The six problems
- No real product anywhere. 27 of the 33 configs have zero images, because the spec bans photos in the Letter and Service families. Where product should be, W1/W3/WB1 show five empty grey drawn 'plates'. The few photos that do run (water-cascade, cream-stack, four-bars-overhead) are unlabelled Beast Mode era or AI swirl bars. None of the approved site photography in theme/assets is used in any email.Hits 36 emails, e.g. W1, C1
- No point and no complete thought. Headlines are labels ('The soap scents', 'Here is your code', 'Your honest take'). Body copy narrates the layout ('The whole label is below', 'The date, total and products are below'). Most emails say one or two things and stop, without a reason to care or a next step. Only W2, W4, PR and GIFT1 were judged a complete thought.Hits 32 emails, e.g. S2, R1
- Random text visible to the reader: bracketed placeholders render in the previews ([FIRST_CLEAN_CODE], [CART_CODE] [CART_SAVING] on [CART_ELIGIBLE_PURCHASE], [SIGN_OFF], [SHIPPING_TERMS], [GIFT_NAME], [BERGAMOT_TANGERINE_OILS], [RENEWAL_ITEMS]). A spec rule keeps them literal in every preview, and the offers behind most of them were never decided.Hits 13 emails, e.g. C2, U2
- Flat, unbroken scroll. Nearly every section is white with a 1px hairline. There are no tinted grounds, no image breaks, no numbered steps and no real bullets: the only list style is a faint 9x2 dash that looks like an em dash. Lists that should exist (scents, care steps, guarantee and shipping, stock-up math) are packed into sentences. On a phone the masthead and footer take up more space than the message.Hits 30 emails, e.g. S3, WB3
- Misplaced things. Customer quotes are set as plain body text with the name alone on its own line (no stars, no 'verified buyer'). Ingredient lists and an 11px lye footnote are dropped in where they don't belong, the same two-row Unscented block appears in W1 and W2, a receipt order table shows up at Day 25, and a storage fact sits under a drainage heading.Hits 9 emails, e.g. W1, WB1
- Copies of the same email. S1/S3/R1/M2 are one white thank-you-plus-portal card. C1/C2/C3 share one skeleton and C2/C3 have a word-for-word offer panel. WB3 is WB2 plus one sentence. H3 repeats H1, GIFT2 repeats GIFT1, COM-survey repeats COM, FB overlaps H2, and the same quote/plate/ingredient blocks repeat across the welcome flow. Free shipping over $50 is also missing from almost every body.Hits 20 emails, e.g. S1, C3
The fix, in order
- Rewrite the rulebook before touching templates. Delete the no-photo rule for the Letter and Service families. Delete the drawn-plate-as-photograph rule, the 'photo never names a scent' rule, the word budgets and 'one fact per caption', the white-plus-hairline grammar, the ban on testimonials and on a why-tallow module, the 'no pitch' rule for non-transactional flows, and literal placeholders in previews. Replace the README with a 2-page visual-first spec: the purpose of each email, the module library with a screenshot per module, the asset map, and the claim ceiling. Move provenance and history into verification/.
- Build the new modules: product-card, product-grid 2-up/3-up (2-up at 375, never 1-up), items-loop with a 72px packshot thumbnail from a static variant-to-image map (never event.ImageURL, which serves BMS packaging), quote-card (stars, Georgia quote, 'NAME, VERIFIED BUYER'), numbered-steps, benefit-row (icons plus live text), ingredient-purpose (replaces C5 and the lye footnote), image-text split (2-col at 600, stacked at 375), full-bleed photo band, and an offer panel led by a big value line plus a guarantee and free-shipping checklist. Retire plate-row-soap-5, plate-row-deo-3, the dash care list and footnote-as-fact-carrier.
- Add 2-3 warm grounds (cream, pale sage, stone) usable behind type at AA contrast, and set a rhythm rule: every 375 screen holds an image or a tinted block. Masthead gets an optional offer strip. Footer gets 1-2 shop links and the guarantee line. Every email ends on its CTA after the last beat.
- Update build_templates.py and lint: add a per-config brief {purpose, point, beats[]}, remove the 3-item care cap, drop the per-family image ban and module whitelists, render labelled sample values in previews, and fail any review-ready email whose preview shows a [FIELD].
- Swap the image library. Rebuild email/assets from theme/assets as 1200px q85-92 JPEG derivatives: remainder-home-hero-mobile (four-carton lineup, the main range hero), remainder-<scent>.webp and remainder-g-<scent>-1 (carton cards), -2 (bar on marble), -5 (bar in wet hands), -6 (stack, 4:5 half panel only), and remainder-g-deo-<scent>-1/-2/-4 for deodorant. Retire water-cascade, water-wide-splash, cream/golden/olive/charcoal stacks, four-bars-*, hands-bar-*, bathroom-vanity, dark-stone, all draft-wet-*, and the BF heroes.
- Correct the per-flow audits on images. Several of them recommend remainder-hands.webp, remainder-water.webp and remainder-wet-edge.webp, but the inventory flags all three as off-product (an unbranded 1024 AI bar and swirled bars that are not ours), so substitute g-<scent>-5 and the home-hero lineup. The ingredient infographic is g-<scent>-4, not -2 (B1's audit has it wrong). The home hero shows four cartons, not five (WB1's audit has it wrong). g-*-3 and g-*-4 have baked text, so crop them or rebuild them as live HTML. Deodorant 09-hug and 11-shadow-noref are drafts and need Brent's OK before use.
- Close the facts before copy: the welcome code name, a sign-off word, Remainder's own free-shipping threshold (hard rule 7 says verify it per brand, do not assume BMS $50), a source for the 60-day guarantee, the bar-life figure ('about four weeks' is unverified and appears in W2, WB3, H1 and S3), the cart/thank-you/winback/subscription offer numbers, the Skio controls and terms, the review URL, and whether the footer entity 'Mellymamaco LLC' is the right sender. Any panel whose fact stays open gets cut, not bracketed.
- Copy pass, run through the remainder-voice skill: each email gets a reader-benefit headline, a supported point in 120-250 words for visual and education emails, and bulleted beats. Ban 'below', 'here is' and 'the following' as copy. No em dashes, no Amazon, no seed-oil spotlight on soap.
- Welcome: W1 = lineup hero, 10% offer panel up top, why-tallow bullets, 2x2 carton grid, quote-card, guarantee and shipping row. W2 = lather story with a hands shot, ingredient-purpose (used only here), numbered care steps, closing CTA. W3 = four scent cards with per-scent links. W4 = last call with the code, a carton photo and safe-first-order bullets. W1-deo-launch stays parked but gets rebuilt on the real stick photos.
- First purchase: reorder to N1 (day 0-1, founder note with a real photo and a what-happens-next list) then N3 (2-3 days after delivery, how-to per product with soap and deodorant blocks, drop the receipt table) then N2 (about 14 days after delivery, review ask that names and shows the product). Exclude subscription renewals from the trigger.
- Cart: C1 = item thumbnails, why-people-switch bullets, free-shipping line, no offer. C2 = value-led headline, offer panel moved up, gated on a real code. C3 = guarantee as 3 steps plus a quote-card, a one-line code reminder instead of the full panel. Fix the backwards C3 audience split and the Added to Cart vs Started Checkout payload mismatch.
- Browse: rebuild B1 with per-product conditional images and a live ingredient list (soap and deodorant branches). Merge B1-fallback into B1 as its default branch and re-capture from the current build.
- Repeat: R1 = recognition plus the rest of the line (other scents and deodorant), dropping 'View your order'. R2 = suppress until a real offer exists. R3 = review ask with the product shown and 3 prompts.
- Winback: WB1 opens with 'Beast Mode Soap is now Remainder. Same soap, new box.' plus the lineup, cards and a quote. WB2 = the offer on the lineup (blocked on Brent's code). WB3 = stock-up ladder plus the code, or cut it if the bar-life figure can't be verified.
- Subscriptions: S1 = what's coming and when, plan summary, control bullets. S2 = deliver the directions (soap and deodorant blocks) instead of linking to them. S3 = verified usage guide plus a scent lineup, or merge it into S1. U1-U3 run only once live Skio terms exist: U1 offer and how it works, U2 control and flexibility, U3 social proof (cut the duplicate ingredient angle). PR = visual renewal card plus skip/swap/add links. M2 = second-delivery retention email, or fold it into the renewal receipt.
- Cuts and merges: cut H3 (its drain tip goes into H1). Merge GIFT2 into GIFT1 as one event-driven template. Pull COM out of pre-renewal into a one-off campaign and keep one build (COM-survey once a survey exists). Merge FB with H2 into one day-14 check-in that gives a tip and asks one question. Merge B1-fallback into B1. R2, WB2, WB3, U1-U3, C2 and GIFT1 do not ship until their offer or trigger exists.
First proof for your eye: W1, C1, N3, WB1
Together these four use every new module, so one round of Brent's eye checks the whole system before the other 30 emails get rebuilt. W1 is the highest-volume send and has every failure at once (drawn plates, placeholders, the stray quote, the orphan lye footnote, the code buried at the bottom); it proves the lineup hero, offer panel, product grid, quote-card and benefit row. C1 is the money email and proves the item thumbnails from the variant-to-packshot map plus the bulleted why. N3 proves numbered steps, the image-text split and soap and deodorant blocks in a how-to with a real purpose. WB1 proves the brand message the whole BMS list needs ('Beast Mode Soap is now Remainder') on real cartons. None of the four waits on an undecided offer number: W1 uses the existing 10% welcome code, and C1, N3 and WB1 carry no offer.

Welcome series
The sequence is right on paper: welcome plus code, why the lather is different, pick a scent, code reminder. The way it's built doesn't work. (1) None of the five emails shows a real Remainder product. W1 and W3 use empty grey drawn rectangles with a colour strip ("plates"). W2 and W3 open on the same blue-tinted stack of unlabelled Beast Mode era bars (water-cascade and water-wide-splash). W4 and W1-deo-launch have no photo at all. The approved PDP photography in theme/assets (labelled cartons, real bars, the deodorant stick) isn't used anywhere. (2) Blocks repeat across the series. The ingredient list (Saponified Grass-Fed Beef Tallow / Water) appears in both W1 and W2. The plate row appears in both W1 and W3. W2 and W3 open on near-identical hero photos. The code panel appears twice (W1 and W4), and W4 adds nothing new. (3) Things are missing from the whole series: free shipping over $50 never appears in a body (only in W4's preview text), there's no "what it is / why switch" bulleted benefit block, and no real reviews with stars. (4) Placeholders are visible in every capture: [FIRST_CLEAN_CODE], [FIRST_PURCHASE_TERMS], [BERGAMOT_TANGERINE_OILS]. (5) Scent count contradicts itself: copy and preview say four scents, Bergamot coming soon, but the plate rows show all five with equal weight. Rebuilt order: W1 = welcome + code + the four scent cartons (real photo) + 3 bullets on why tallow. W2 = the lather/feel story with hands-wet photography, care bullets and a review. W3 = scent guide as four photo cards. W4 = last call on the code, with a carton photo, guarantee and free shipping bullets. Every email gets a real photo hero, a tinted break and a bulleted block. W1-deo-launch stays parked, but it must use the real stick photography before it ever runs.
W13/10Welcome the subscriber, show the real bars, and get the 10% code used on a first orderrewrite
Today: Welcome, slogan, list of scents, Unscented label, 10% code: five jobs at once, none of them shown with product
Copy
- Preview says 'Tallow soap in four scents' but the plate row directly below shows five scents with equal weight, including Bergamot Tangerine; the email contradicts itself
- 'We make tallow soap, which is beef fat, in four scents' is a clunky aside; 'which is beef fat' reads like a correction mid-sentence
- 'The whole label of the Unscented bar is below.' is a signpost sentence, not a reason to read; it points at a block nobody asked for
- Quote '“Reminds of soap my grandma used to make. I love it”' has no closing period, no stars and no 'verified buyer'; 'Joe E.' is set in the same body type, so it reads like a stray line of text
- The code is only near the bottom, below plates and an ingredient list; the subject promises 'your 10% code' and the hero never mentions 10%
- '[FIRST_CLEAN_CODE]' and '[FIRST_PURCHASE_TERMS]' are visible in the capture
- No free shipping over $50 line in a welcome email
- Lye footnote 'Lye turns the tallow into soap and is used up in the reaction, so none remains once the bar is cured.' is a defensive chemistry note in a first-touch email
Design
- The plate row is five empty grey rectangles with a pastel stripe; at 375 it reflows 3 over 2 with a large dead tinted block (roughly 470px of nothing but outlines)
- The hero is a long text-only block (headline, paragraph, quote, name, button) with no image above the fold
- The ingredient list is two lines with a big rule and lots of white space; thin content floating
- No bullets anywhere; no benefit block
- The code panel at the bottom has no button, so the conversion block is a dead end
- Footer wordmark plus masthead wordmark: two REMAINDERs, and still no product shown
Images
- plate-row-soap-5 drawn plates are not product. Replace with remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp (four labelled cartons: Lemon Litsea, Pine Cedarwood, Unscented, Eucalyptus Charcoal) as the hero, or the four product-card shots remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp as a 2x2 grid
- No real bar shown at all; add remainder-g-unscented-5.webp (wet hands holding the bar) or remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (carton + bar + verified-buyer quote)
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead
- Photo hero: remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp (desktop: remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp), headline 'Welcome to Remainder. Here's 10% off.', one line: 'Grass-fed beef tallow soap, made with only what each bar needs.'
- Tinted offer panel directly under the hero: code box (real code), 'Enter it at checkout for 10% off your first order.', button 'Shop the soap'
- Bullet block 'Why tallow': 3 bullets: 'Two ingredients in the Unscented bar: grass-fed beef tallow and water' / 'A dense, creamy lather' / 'Scented bars use essential oils only'
- 2x2 product grid of real cartons: remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp, each name links to its PDP; small 'Bergamot Tangerine coming soon' line under the grid
- Review card on tint: stars + 'Reminds me of the soap my grandma used to make. I love it.' Joe E., verified buyer (set as a quote, not body text)
- Reassurance row (icons or bullets): 'Free shipping over $50' / '60-Day Money Back Guarantee'
- Footer
Rewrite: The welcome email is essential, but the current build is a text and placeholder skeleton that shows no product
W24/10Make the reader feel the product (thick lather, long-lasting bar) and send them to shoprewrite
Today: Explain why tallow lathers thick, give care steps and bar life, list the two ingredients
Copy
- 'It rinses off clean.' is a dangling sentence tacked onto the lather line
- 'How long a bar lasts' is the headline, but the first sentence is care instructions ('Lather with warm water and rinse, then keep the bar dry between uses.'); the headline and the body don't match
- 'A bar lasts about four weeks.' is flagged unconfirmed in the notes (PRE-SEND) and is still in the copy
- 'Scott S.' is set as a plain body line under the quote, no stars, no 'verified buyer'
- Footnote 'We leave 7% of the tallow unreacted on purpose' uses chemistry jargon ('unreacted') in grey 12px; it's a benefit hidden as fine print
- The ingredient list repeats W1's block exactly
Design
- The hero photo is a cold blue cast, the opposite of the light, airy 'Yellowstone but clean' direction
- The second photo is a 600x600 plain stack of cream bars that takes up a full phone screen and says nothing
- Every section is white except the masthead; there's no tint change, so it scrolls as one long white page
- No bullets; the care steps are run-on prose and should be a 3-step list
- There's no CTA after the hero; the email ends on a two-line ingredient list and the footer
Images
- water-cascade-full-1200x800.jpg: unlabelled Beast Mode era bars (orange, cream, charcoal) in a blue-tinted splash, not Remainder product and the same frame family as W3's hero. Replace with remainder-hands.webp (wet hands, real bar) or remainder-g-unscented-5.webp
- cream-stack-square-1200x1200.jpg: generic unlabelled stack. Replace with remainder-g-unscented-6.webp (the real Remainder stack in the bright bathroom set) or remainder-wet-edge.webp
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead
- Photo hero remainder-hands.webp, headline 'A thick, creamy lather', one sentence: 'Tallow is a solid, heavy fat, so the lather is dense and creamy, not big and airy.'
- Tinted panel 'What makes the bar' with 3 bullets: 'Grass-fed beef tallow' / '7% of the fat left in on purpose, so some of the original tallow stays in the bar' / 'Nothing else in the Unscented bar but water'
- Image remainder-g-unscented-4.webp (the 'Every ingredient has a purpose' ingredient art, real bar) in place of the text-only C5 list
- Numbered 'Make it last' list: 1. Lather with warm water 2. Rinse 3. Keep it dry between uses (add the bar-life line only once confirmed)
- Review card with stars: 'Excellent quality, surprisingly long-lasting, lathers up great with a loofah.' Scott S., verified buyer
- Button 'Shop the soap' + small line 'Your 10% code still works'
- Footer
Rewrite: The lather story earns its place as the 'why tallow' email, but it needs real photos, a list layout and one ingredient block that isn't a copy of W1's
W33/10Help the reader pick one scent by showing each real bar with what it smells like and a link to buy itrewrite
Today: Say the soaps are scented with essential oils only, show five drawn plates, list scents in a text block
Copy
- '[BERGAMOT_TANGERINE_OILS]' is visible in the scent list
- The scent list is five lines crammed into one paragraph with <br> ('Pine Cedarwood: woodsy, from pine and cedarwood oil.'), so it wraps into an unreadable block at 375
- 'Unscented: nothing added.' is weak and can be misread; it should say what's in it
- Headline 'Scented only with essential oils' wraps with an orphaned 'oils' at 375
- The scent list sits below the plate row, so the names appear twice in a row (plates, then text)
Design
- Five empty drawn rectangles in a tinted block, 3 over 2 at 375, with big dead space; this is the single worst-looking block in the flow
- The scent descriptions aren't attached to their scents visually; you read the plates, then a wall of text
- The only CTA is in the hero; no per-scent links
- Ends abruptly on the text list, then footer
Images
- water-wide-splash-full-1200x800.jpg: unlabelled Beast Mode era bars (orange, cream, charcoal) in a blue splash, near-duplicate of W2's hero. Replace with remainder-water.webp (real Remainder bars in sunlit water, light and airy)
- Drawn plates: replace with real per-scent cards: remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp, remainder-unscented.webp (labelled cartons), or the bar shots remainder-g-lemon-litsea-2.webp and remainder-g-<scent>-2.webp
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead
- Photo hero remainder-water.webp, headline 'Find your scent', one line: 'Essential oils only, so what you smell is the oil on the box.'
- Four stacked scent cards (image left, text right on desktop; image top on phone), each: carton photo (remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp / remainder-lemon-litsea.webp / remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp / remainder-unscented.webp), scent name, one smell line, 'Made with: pine and cedarwood oil' etc., text link 'Shop Pine Cedarwood'
- Alternate card backgrounds white/tint so the scroll breaks every card
- Small tinted strip: 'Bergamot Tangerine coming soon' (no oil list until the carton is confirmed)
- Bulleted 'Not sure?' block: 'Like it plain: Unscented, tallow and water only' / 'Like it fresh: Eucalyptus Charcoal' / 'Like it woodsy: Pine Cedarwood'
- Button 'Shop the scents' + 'Free shipping over $50'
- Footer
Rewrite: A scent guide is a good welcome step, but right now it's placeholders plus a text dump; it needs to become a visual picker
W43/10Last push to use the 10% code, with the product shown and the reasons it's a safe first orderrewrite
Today: Remind non-buyers their 10% code still works, mention the guarantee
Copy
- 'Try the bars, and if you want out, the 60-Day Money Back Guarantee returns your money.' is awkward ('if you want out')
- Free shipping over $50 is only in the preview text, not in the body
- 'Enter this code at checkout for 10% off your first order.' repeats the headline '10% off your first bars' two blocks later
- '[FIRST_CLEAN_CODE]' and '[FIRST_PURCHASE_TERMS]' are visible
- No reason to buy now and no product mention beyond 'bars'
Design
- Text-only: headline, two lines, code panel, footer. It's a thin email; on desktop it reads as a receipt
- No image, no bullets, no break
- Footer takes up almost as much space as the content
Images
- No product image at all. Add remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp (four labelled cartons) or remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (carton + bar + 'Great soap, and it doesn't dry my skin.' verified-buyer art)
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead
- Photo hero remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (real carton, bar and verified-buyer quote baked in)
- Headline 'Your 10% is still waiting' + one line: 'For your first order of tallow soap.'
- Tinted code panel: code box, 'Enter it at checkout.', button 'Shop the soap'
- Three bullets 'A safe first order': '60-Day Money Back Guarantee' / 'Free shipping over $50' / 'Four scents and Unscented, tallow and water only'
- Mini 2x2 of real cartons (remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp) linking to PDPs
- Footer
Rewrite: The reminder earns its place as the close of the flow, but it currently has nothing in it besides the code
W1-deo-launch2/10At deodorant launch: welcome plus 'meet the tallow deodorant', with the real stick and the coderewrite
Today: Parked alternate welcome that introduces deodorant first, with three drawn plates, the first three ingredients and the code
Copy
- Subject 'Welcome: your 10% code' and preview 'Stops the smell, not the sweat. Three scents.' don't connect; the preview pitches deodorant while the subject pitches a code
- 'We make tallow deodorant and tallow soap.' then a second paragraph that restarts on deodorant; the hero copy is two intros
- 'It's a deodorant, not an antiperspirant.' right after 'stops the smell, not the sweat' says the same thing twice
- Ingredient block features 'Sunflower Oil' as one of only three listed ingredients; for a carnivore, seed-oil-averse audience, spotlighting a seed oil is a self-own (accurate per the label, so this is Brent's call; the soap no-seed-oil rule does not transfer to deodorant)
- Footnote 'Ten ingredients in the Unscented stick. Each scented stick adds three essential oils.' is a count with no reason attached
- Placeholders [FIRST_CLEAN_CODE], [FIRST_PURCHASE_TERMS] visible
Design
- At 375 the three drawn plates stack vertically in a single column: roughly 700px of empty outlines on tint, the worst dead space in the flow
- Text-only hero, no product
- No bullets for the benefit claims
Images
- plate-row-deo-3 drawn plates: replace with the real stick photography remainder-g-deo-unscented-1.webp / remainder-g-deo-eucalyptus-peppermint-1.webp / remainder-g-deo-citrus-cedarwood-1.webp, and remainder-g-deo-unscented-2.webp (cap off) as the hero; lifestyle from assets/deodorant-pdp-2026-09-30/out/02-capoff-*.png if Brent approves
- Notes say 'no deodorant photography exists'; that's stale, the PDP gallery has it
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead
- Photo hero remainder-g-deo-unscented-2.webp, headline 'Meet tallow deodorant', line 'Stops the smell, not the sweat.'
- Tinted code panel with button 'Shop deodorant'
- Three bullets: 'Grass-fed beef tallow base' / 'Deodorant, not an antiperspirant' / 'Three scents: Unscented, Eucalyptus Peppermint, Citrus Cedarwood'
- 3-up real stick row: remainder-g-deo-unscented-1.webp, remainder-g-deo-eucalyptus-peppermint-1.webp, remainder-g-deo-citrus-cedarwood-1.webp (2+1 or horizontal scroll-safe at 375), each linking to its PDP
- Ingredient art remainder-g-deo-unscented-3.webp instead of the 3-row text list (Brent decides if the sunflower oil callout stays)
- Small 'Also from us: tallow soap' strip with remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp
- Free shipping over $50 / 60-Day Money Back Guarantee row
- Footer
Rewrite: Keep parked until launch, but rebuild it on the real stick photos now so it isn't shipped in this state when it unparks
First purchase thank-you series
The sequence is backwards and each email is too thin to carry its job. The order now is thank-you (Day 1), then the review ask (about Day 11, or 10 days after delivery), then "How to use what you ordered" (about Day 25). The how-to email lands two weeks after we asked them to judge the product, and by then they have used half a bar. N1 and N3 also overlap: both say "reply if you need help" and both gesture at the label or directions without saying anything. None of the three has a single image. All three are white pages with a wordmark at the top and bottom, so a first-time buyer never sees the bar, the box or the deodorant they paid for. Right order: N1 thank-you plus what to expect, sent on the order day or Day 1, with a real product photo. Then N3 moves up to "how to use it", 2 to 3 days after delivery, with photos for each product and bullets. N2 goes last as the review ask, 14 days after delivery, with social proof and product imagery. Each email then has a different job: welcome, get the most from it, tell us. Flow logic to fix at the same time: subscription renewal orders are not filtered out of the trigger (whowhen), so subscribers can get "thank you for your first order". N3's soap-care block is soap-only, and deodorant buyers get nothing.
N13/10Make a first-time buyer feel they bought from a real maker, and set expectations for what arrives and how to start.rewrite
Today: A founder thank-you with an open reply invitation.
Copy
- The literal placeholder "[SIGN_OFF]," renders in the capture above "Brent". Brent has to pick "Stay clean" or "Talk soon", or the line gets cut.
- "Everything on the label is there for a reason." is a random non sequitur after the thank-you. It names no reason or ingredient, so it reads like filler.
- "I make Remainder." plus "thank you for choosing Remainder" plus "I hope you like what you picked" is three sentences of politeness with zero information: nothing about what they bought, when it ships, or how to start.
- "If you ever want to know why something's in it" asks the customer to do the work. Give one real reason instead (grass-fed beef tallow is the base, no seed oils) and keep the reply as an option.
- There is no point beyond 'thanks'. It does not say the next email will cover how to use the product, so the series has no thread.
Design
- About 60 words of grey body text float in a white card. On a 375px phone the whole email is masthead, four short paragraphs and a footer, with no visual break at all.
- No headline, no image, no tint panel, no bullets. It looks like a plain-text receipt, not a premium brand's first impression.
- The footer wordmark repeats the masthead wordmark with nothing between them, so the brand name is the only design element.
- The footer reads "Mellymamaco LLC, 30 N Gould St #3705, Sheridan, WY". Verify this is the right legal sender for Remainder (memory says Bioshift Nutrition LLC operates). If it is wrong, it reads as a random entity on a thank-you.
Images
- There is no image at all. A founder letter can still carry one real photo: remainder-hands.webp (the bar in wet hands, the warmest shot) or remainder-g-unscented-5.webp / remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-5.webp (the bar cupped in wet hands).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead (keep).
- Photo hero, full-bleed: theme/assets/remainder-hands.webp, cropped 600x400, no baked text.
- Letter block on a warm tint (#F7F5F0-ish): "Hey, Brent here. I make Remainder." / one sentence of thanks / one sentence on what Remainder is (grass-fed beef tallow soap, no seed oils, short ingredient list) as the reason the label is short.
- 'What happens next' panel with 3 bullets: "Your order ships in [X] business days and you'll get tracking by email." / "When it arrives, we'll send a short guide to getting the most from each product." / "Questions about anything in it? Reply here." (Shipping time must come from verified ops.)
- Sign-off with a real word chosen by Brent (no bracket token), then 'Brent' in Spectral italic or a signature image.
- Optional small row: theme/assets/remainder-water.webp as a thin 600x200 band of all the bars in water, as a visual close before the footer.
- Footer (verify the legal entity line).
Rewrite: A founder thank-you is the highest-open email in a first-purchase flow, but this one says nothing and shows nothing, and it ships with a visible placeholder.
N23/10After they have used the product, get an honest review of the specific thing they bought, in one tap.rewrite
Today: Ask for a review, with a reply fallback for order problems.
Copy
- Subject "How was your first order?" and headline "What did you think?" are a vague double question. It never names the product they bought (Pine Cedarwood soap, Unscented deodorant), so it feels generic.
- "Once you've had a few days with your order" is wrong at about Day 11 or 10 days after delivery; they have had more than a few days. It also hedges on timing instead of asking.
- The body is one 33-word sentence doing three jobs (timing, us, the next buyer). Break it into short lines or bullets.
- The button href is the literal "[REVIEW_URL]". The review platform for Remainder is unverified, so the email cannot ship as-is.
- flow-map.md still lists the subject "How was your first experience?" while the config has "How was your first order?". The docs and the build disagree.
Design
- The same white void as N1: headline, one paragraph, a black pill button, one line, then the footer. Nothing breaks the scroll on a phone.
- There is no product in sight. A review ask works when the reader sees the thing they are reviewing.
- On desktop the black pill sits alone, left-aligned, with large white space to the right; on the phone it is a heavy full-width black slab with nothing around it.
- No stars, quote or social proof, which is the standard visual cue that makes a review ask feel normal and quick.
Images
- There is no image. Use the purchased product's real photo via the Klaviyo line-item loop, falling back to remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-3.webp or remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (the box beside the bar on marble; crop off the baked customer quote, or use remainder-g-unscented-2.webp / remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-2.webp, the bar alone on marble, no text).
- Do not use the PDP slides with baked quotes ('My skin feels so smooth', 'Great soap, and it doesn't dry my skin') unless those are verified Remainder reviews and not migrated BMS Loox reviews.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Product image row: the purchased item's photo and name pulled from the order (fallback: theme/assets/remainder-g-unscented-2.webp), with the headline under it: "How's the [Product name] treating you?"
- Short body, 2 lines: "You've had it a couple of weeks now. A quick review helps the next person pick a scent, and tells us what to keep."
- Star row (5 tappable stars that each deep-link to the review form with the rating prefilled), or one centred button 'Review your [product]' to the verified review URL.
- Tint panel 'What helps most' with 3 bullets: 'Which scent you picked and why' / 'How your skin felt after a week' / 'How long the bar is lasting'.
- Closer line: 'Something wrong with your order? Reply and we'll sort it out.'
- Footer.
Rewrite: A review ask is worth keeping (it feeds the site's Judge-type proof), but it has to come after use, name the product, show the product, and have a working link.
N34/10Show them how to use and care for exactly what they bought, so the first week goes well and the bar lasts.rewrite
Today: List the order items, give two soap-care lines, and push to shop the collection.
Copy
- Headline "How to use what you ordered" is followed by "Everything in your order is listed below." The list is only names and quantities, not how to use them, so the email does not deliver what its headline promises.
- The order table ("YOUR ORDER 1001 / Tallow Bar Soap, Pine Cedarwood x 2") is receipt data with no reason to be here at Day 25. It is the 'misplaced thing' Brent is reacting to.
- The only directions are two soap lines. "Lather with warm water, rinse, and set the bar on a draining dish away from the spray." crams three steps into one bullet. Deodorant buyers get no directions at all.
- The CTA "Shop the collection" contradicts the closer "If anything in the directions is unclear, reply here". It is a sales button on a how-to email with no reason given to buy more.
- The subject "How to get the most from your order" oversells two bullets. The preview "What you ordered, and how to care for it" is accurate, but the content is weak.
- The flow-map row still says subject "Getting started with Remainder" and CTA "View product details". The docs disagree with the build.
Design
- Four stacked white sections split by hairline rules, with no image, no tint and no colour. It reads like an order-confirmation page.
- The item rows use dashes as bullets and the care rows use the same dashes, so the two different kinds of content look identical.
- The order number "1001" sits alone at the far right in light grey. It is easy to miss and does not mean anything to the customer weeks later.
- The big black full-width button on the phone is the heaviest thing in the email, and it sells instead of helping.
Images
- There is no image. Each purchased item should show its real PDP photo (Klaviyo item image or a mapped static): soap uses remainder-g-<scent>-5.webp (the bar in wet hands) or -2 (the bar on marble), and deodorant uses remainder-g-deo-<scent>-2.webp (stick uncapped).
- For the care section, use theme/assets/remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-6.webp or remainder-g-unscented-6.webp (a bar stack on a bright counter), or remainder-wet-edge.webp. For deodorant, use remainder-g-deo-unscented-4.webp (application outdoors, matches the Yellowstone-but-clean direction).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Move it to 2 to 3 days after delivery (before N2).
- Masthead.
- Photo hero: theme/assets/remainder-g-unscented-5.webp or the purchased scent's -5 (the bar cupped in wet hands), headline 'Getting the most from your bar'.
- Per-item cards (loop): the product photo on the left (PDP -2 shot), the name and scent on the right, plus a 3-bullet routine specific to that product type.
- Soap block on a warm tint panel, headline 'Three habits that make a bar last' with numbered bullets: '1. Wet the bar, lather in your hands, rinse.' / '2. Set it on a dish that drains, out of the shower stream.' / '3. Keep spare bars dry and boxed until you open them.' Image: remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-6.webp (stack).
- Deodorant block (conditional), image remainder-g-deo-unscented-4.webp, with bullets: 'Apply to clean, dry skin.' / '2 to 3 swipes is enough.' / 'Give it a week while your body adjusts.' (verify against the label directions first).
- Helpful CTA, not a shop push: 'See full directions for [product]' to the product URL. Optional secondary text link: 'Running low? Restock here'.
- Closer: 'Questions about any of it? Reply here.' Footer.
Rewrite: A how-to email is the most useful email in the series, but right now it is a receipt plus two lines plus a shop button, and it arrives after the review ask.
Repeat purchase thank-you
The order of the series is right: thank them (day 1), give a reason to come back (about day 11), ask for a review after delivery. The execution fails. All three emails use the same template: masthead, serif headline, one or two lines of grey text, a black pill button, then the footer. None of them has a single image. A loyal repeat buyer gets three bare text notes that look like Shopify system mail, and nothing shows the product they bought twice. Problems across the flow: (1) R1 does nothing a Shopify order confirmation doesn't already do. "View your order" repeats a transactional email they got the day before, so R1 has no reason to exist in its current form. It should become the "you're one of the regulars" email: a photo of their bars and the full line, so they can see what else exists (the other scents, deodorant). (2) R2 is a placeholder skeleton. Every fact in it is a bracketed token, and per whowhen it "may not send at all without a real offer." If the offer is never set, the flow falls back to R1 then R3, and both are empty. The offer, or a non-offer reason to return like a deodorant cross-sell, has to be decided first. (3) R1 and R3 start from the same idea ("Good to see you again" / "What stood out this time"), and neither gives the reader anything. The 375 phone captures show the same problem: about 60% of each screen is masthead, footer and white space, with a body of 10 to 30 words. Rebuild so each email does one separate job: R1 = recognition + the full line in real photos (a soft discover, no code). R2 = the offer, shown on real product and built around trying a new scent or adding deodorant. R3 = review ask with a real customer quote image as an example and 3 bulleted prompts. Every email needs at least one real PDP photo, a tinted break and a scannable list.
R12/10Make a returning buyer feel recognized and show them the rest of the line (other scents + deodorant) in real photos, so the third order is a new scent or the deodorant.rewrite
Today: Says hi and links to the order details the customer already got in the Shopify confirmation.
Copy
- Subject "Your latest order" reads like a transactional receipt and repeats the Shopify order confirmation. It gives no reason to open.
- Preview "Everything in your latest order." is not true: the email contains nothing from the order, only a link.
- Headline "Good to see you again" is followed by "Your order details are one tap away." Those two lines don't connect: a warm greeting, then a utility sentence. No thank-you, no point.
- The entire body is one 7-word sentence. It's not a complete thought: no why, no what's next.
- "View your order" CTA points to [ORDER_URL], which is unresolved, and customer accounts are an open item, so the only action may be broken.
- Closer "If anything is wrong with the order, reply to this email." is support boilerplate in a thank-you email. It belongs in the confirmation, not here.
- The flow-map copy ("Thanks for coming back" / "We appreciate your next order.") and the built copy don't match. The build lost the thank-you entirely.
Design
- No image of any kind. The only visual is a black pill button.
- At 375 the content block is a headline, one line, a button and one line. The masthead and footer take more height than the message.
- No tint change, no panel, no section break between masthead and footer. Nothing breaks up the scroll because there is nothing to scroll.
- The 600 capture has a large dead white zone to the right of the left-aligned short text and button.
- Duplicate wordmark: REMAINDER masthead plus REMAINDER footer, with only about 300px of content between them, makes the wordmark the dominant element.
- The optional C6 order-items module (items-loop.html) is off, so the email doesn't even show what they bought.
Images
- No product image at all. It should lead with real product: remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp / remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp (the four labelled boxes on water) or remainder-hands.webp (wet charcoal bar in hands).
- The line-up row should use the real labelled box shots remainder-g-unscented-1.webp, remainder-g-lemon-litsea-1.webp, remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-1.webp, remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-1.webp (plate-row-soap-5.html, with Bergamot Tangerine as 'coming soon').
- The deodorant row should use remainder-g-deo-unscented-1.webp, remainder-g-deo-citrus-cedarwood-1/2.webp and remainder-g-deo-eucalyptus-peppermint-1.webp (plate-row-deo-3.html).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Subject: 'Back for more. Thank you.' Preview: 'A quick look at the rest of the line.'
- Masthead (keep, single wordmark).
- Full-width photo (photo.html): remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp at 375 / remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp at 600. Real labelled boxes, light and airy.
- Text hero: H1 'Thanks for coming back.' Body (2 sentences): 'A second order means the bar earned its spot in your shower. That matters more to us than any first sale.'
- Items loop (items-loop.html, ON): 'What you ordered' with the real line-item product thumbnails, so the email is about *their* order.
- Tinted section (section-tint.html): label 'The rest of the line'. Soap plate row (plate-row-soap-5.html) using remainder-g-unscented-1, remainder-g-lemon-litsea-1, remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-1, remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-1, remainder-g-bergamot-tangerine-1 marked 'Coming soon'. Each tile: scent name + a 3-to-5 word scent note.
- White section: deodorant row (plate-row-deo-3.html) using remainder-g-deo-unscented-1, remainder-g-deo-citrus-cedarwood-2, remainder-g-deo-eucalyptus-peppermint-1. Line: 'Same tallow, made for your underarms.' Button 'See the deodorant'.
- Bulleted list (list-row.html), 'Worth knowing': • Free shipping over $50 • Let the bar dry between showers and it lasts longer • Reply to this email with any question, a real person answers.
- Footer. Drop the 'View your order' button entirely (the confirmation covers it); at most a small text link 'Order details' inside the items block.
Rewrite: A day-1 thank-you to a repeat buyer is worth sending, but the current one is a weaker copy of the order confirmation. Rewrite it as recognition + the full line in real photos.
R21/10Give a returning non-subscriber one concrete reason to place order three: a real thank-you code shown on real product, aimed at trying a new scent or adding deodorant.rewrite
Today: Give a returning buyer a thank-you discount code for the next order. Every fact (code, saving, eligible products, terms) is still a bracketed placeholder.
Copy
- Placeholders are visible in both captures: "[THANK_YOU_CODE]", "[THANK_YOU_SAVING] on [THANK_YOU_ELIGIBLE_PURCHASE].", "[THANK_YOU_TERMS]". At 375 "[THANK_YOU_ELIGIBLE_PURCHASE]." breaks onto its own line. This is the 'random text' Brent is seeing.
- The offer is undefined (historical 15% / BEAST15 is unverified), so the email currently has no point. It cannot be judged or sent until the number exists.
- "Because you came back, here's a code for next time." sounds like a coupon receipt. Nothing says what the code is worth until you reach the panel.
- "Use the code when you place your next order." repeats the hero sentence "here's a code for next time". The same idea is said twice.
- "Use it on a favorite scent or one you haven't tried yet." names no scent and shows none, so the suggestion has nothing behind it.
- Headline "Your thank-you code" doesn't say the value. The number should be the headline.
- "Shop the collection" is generic. It should point to a specific next buy (a new scent, the deodorant).
Design
- No image. A discount email for a soap brand with zero soap in it.
- The offer panel is the only visual break, and it's a grey box with a white placeholder box inside it. Once real values go in it will still be text only.
- At 375 the panel's line text wraps into 4 lines of bracketed caps that read as broken code.
- The terms line is tiny grey text floating under the line with no spacing structure.
- No list. The terms (minimum, expiry, exclusions) should be 2 or 3 short bullets, not one grey line.
- Dead white space right of the left-aligned button on 600.
Images
- No product image. It should lead with real product: remainder-wet-edge.webp (four real bars at the waterline, the colors read instantly) or remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-3.webp (bar + labelled box + verified-buyer quote).
- A 'try a new scent' row should use the labelled box shots remainder-g-lemon-litsea-1.webp, remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-1.webp, remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-1.webp, remainder-g-unscented-1.webp.
- The deodorant add-on tile should use remainder-g-deo-citrus-cedarwood-2.webp (stick with cap off, labelled).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Gate: decide the real offer (amount, eligible items, expiry) or cut the email. Never ship brackets.
- Subject: '[X]% off your next order, on us.' Preview: 'For a new scent, or the deodorant.'
- Masthead.
- Full-width photo: remainder-wet-edge.webp (real bars, water, light). It sets the tone straight away.
- Text hero: H1 '[X]% off your next order' (the value is the headline). Body, one sentence: 'A thank-you for ordering more than once. Use it on a scent you haven't tried, or add the deodorant.'
- Tinted offer panel (C9 / code-box.html): label 'Your code', the real code in the box, then a bulleted list (list-row.html): • [X]% off [eligible items] • Good until [date] • One use, not combinable with other codes. Button 'Use my code' to the collection with the discount applied via URL.
- White section 'Haven't tried these?': 2x2 grid of the labelled box shots remainder-g-lemon-litsea-1, remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-1, remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-1, remainder-g-unscented-1, each with name + one scent note + 'Shop' link.
- Tinted strip: deodorant cross-sell, remainder-g-deo-citrus-cedarwood-2.webp on the left, 'Tallow deodorant. Three scents.' on the right, link 'See the deodorant'.
- Line: 'Free shipping over $50.' Then the footer.
Rewrite: The incentive is the main reason this flow exists, but right now it's a template with no offer and no product. Rewrite around a real number and real photos, or suppress it until the offer is decided.
R32/10Get a two-time buyer to write a review by making it easy: say why their review matters, give 3 prompts to answer, and show a real review as an example.rewrite
Today: Ask a repeat buyer for a review.
Copy
- Headline "What stood out this time" sounds like a question but isn't one. It has no question mark and no reader cue.
- "You've used it longer than most." has no noun for "it". On a cold read, used what?
- "Your review is the one a first-time buyer trusts." is a decent idea, but it's the whole email. Nothing tells them what to write or how long it takes.
- Subject "How did this order go?" and headline "What stood out this time" ask two different questions.
- The flow map says 'Tell us what stood out' with a closer for help. The build removed the closer, so the email just ends.
- No product named. They don't know which product the review is for.
Design
- No image. A review ask with no picture of the product being reviewed.
- At 375 the content is a headline, 2 lines and a button, then straight into the footer. Over half the screen is chrome.
- No tint, no panel, no list. Nothing breaks it up.
- On 600 there's a dead white field to the right of the short left-aligned block.
- Looks identical to R1. The reader can't tell the emails apart at a glance.
Images
- No product image. Use a real product shot of what they bought (dynamic line-item image via items-loop.html), or fall back to remainder-g-unscented-3.webp / remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-3.webp. Those are the real PDP shots with a verified-buyer quote set above the bar and labelled box, so they show what a good review looks like.
- A secondary image could be remainder-hands.webp (bar in use in the shower), to support 'tell us how it held up after weeks of use'.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Subject: 'How's the soap holding up?' Preview: 'Two minutes, and it helps the next person decide.'
- Masthead.
- Product block (items-loop.html): photo + name of the exact bar/deodorant they ordered, so it's clear what they're reviewing. Fallback image remainder-g-unscented-1.webp.
- Text hero: H1 'How's it holding up?' Body: 'You've ordered more than once, so you know this bar better than most people do. A review from a repeat buyer is the one a first-timer trusts.'
- Tinted panel (section-tint + list-row.html), 'A few things worth mentioning': • How your skin feels after a few weeks • How long a bar lasts you • Which scent you'd tell a friend to start with. Button 'Write a review' inside the panel.
- Example image: remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (verified-buyer quote on real product). Caption: 'Like this one. Short is fine.'
- One line: 'Something not right? Reply here and we'll sort it out.' Then the footer.
Rewrite: A post-delivery review ask from repeat buyers is the most valuable proof source, but this one is too thin to act on. It doesn't name what to review, give prompts or show product.
Cart recovery
The three steps are in the right order: a reminder, then the offer, then a reason to trust the purchase. In practice the series fails, because all three are the same text-only receipt with zero images. Same masthead, the same headline-plus-two-sentences hero, the same "YOUR CART / 2 ITEMS" list of dash-prefixed product names, a black pill button and the footer. C2 and C3 also repeat a word-for-word identical offer panel, and that panel still shows raw [CART_CODE] / [CART_SAVING] / [CART_ELIGIBLE_PURCHASE] / [CART_TERMS] tokens. Those tokens are the "random text" Brent is seeing. Nobody would know these emails come from a soap company unless they read the item names. Nowhere in the series does the shopper see the product they left: no bar, no box, no lineup. The one real product lever the brand has here, free shipping over $50, is missing from all three emails. To earn three sends, each email needs its own job with no overlap. C1 shows them what they left: real photos of their scents plus three short bullets on why the bar is different, with no offer. C2 gives the code, and the reason to use it now is the code plus the $50 free-shipping threshold, framed around the actual product. C3 handles risk: the guarantee, two real buyer quotes (the same ones already approved on the PDP gallery cards) and the code one last time with no urgency. Image source for all three: theme/assets/remainder-*.webp (Brent-approved PDP photography), never email/assets. Per-item photos come from a Klaviyo conditional on the item title that maps to the scent card image (remainder-<scent>.webp, or remainder-g-<scent>-1.webp for the labelled box). Klaviyo's own product image is not usable because it still serves BMS packaging. Logic problems to fix before any of this matters: C3 is wired backwards today (it goes to recent buyers), C2's offer code does not exist in Shopify, the trigger/payload mismatch (Added to Cart vs Started Checkout line_items) is unresolved, and the "60-Day Money Back Guarantee" in C3 needs a source tag confirming it is current Remainder policy before it ships.
C13/10Show them the actual bars they left (real labelled boxes) and give one quick reason to finish: what makes this tallow bar worth it, plus free shipping over $50.rewrite
Today: Remind the shopper their cart exists and link back to it.
Copy
- Subject "You left something behind" is the most generic abandoned-cart line in ecommerce; it says nothing about soap or Remainder.
- Preview "Your items are saved, ready when you are." makes an implied reservation claim (the notes themselves bar stock-reservation implications) and is filler.
- Hero "Your cart, as you left it" + "Everything you added is below. Check the scent and quantity, then check out when you're ready." is a receipt instruction, not a reason to come back. It gives no benefit, no product, no point.
- Item rows "Tallow Bar Soap, Pine Cedarwood x 2" with a bold dash glyph as the bullet reads like a minus sign or em dash, which is confusing on a phone.
- Closer "If you have a question about a product, reply here and we'll help." is fine but depends on a monitored reply-to that is still open (README item 10).
- Free shipping over $50 is never mentioned, which is the one honest nudge a cart email has.
- No prices, so the shopper can't tell whether they're near $50.
Design
- Zero images. A cart email for a physical product shows no product at all.
- Phone capture is four stacked white boxes separated by hairlines: masthead, two lines of text, a two-line list, button. Nothing changes tint until the footer, so it reads as a system notification.
- Items list has no thumbnails; the empty right side of each row at 600 is dead space.
- At 600 the button sits left-aligned with a big empty right half; the whole email is about 60% whitespace.
- The footer wordmark repeats the masthead wordmark with a dash, which adds more length than content.
- Nothing breaks the scroll: no panel, no photo, no bullets with content.
Images
- No product imagery at all. Per item it should show the real labelled Remainder box: theme/assets/remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-1.webp, remainder-g-unscented-1.webp, remainder-g-lemon-litsea-1.webp, remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-1.webp (1600x1600 white-box shots), chosen by a Klaviyo {% if 'Pine Cedarwood' in item.product.title %} style conditional. Do not use Klaviyo's product image, which still serves BMS packaging.
- Hero should be the four-box lineup on water, theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp (or remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp cropped for 375), so even a no-items fallback shows real product.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Subject: "Your Pine Cedarwood is still in your cart" (first item's scent via the event, fallback "Your Remainder soap is still in your cart"). Preview: "Free shipping once your order passes $50."
- Masthead (keep).
- Photo hero, full-bleed 600 wide: remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp (the four labelled boxes on water). Headline under it: "Still in your cart". One sentence: "Here's what you picked. It's one click back."
- Items block WITH image column: 96px square thumbnail per row from remainder-g-<scent>-1.webp (labelled box) via a title conditional, product name in Spectral, scent as a small Archivo line, qty on the right. Use a plain round bullet or no glyph, not the bold dash.
- Tinted panel (#F4F3EF) 'Why people switch', 3 real bullets from the verified fact sheet: "Grass-fed beef tallow is the base, not a filler." / "Scented with essential oils only. Unscented has none." / "Cold process, so it's cured, not rushed." Pair it with remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-5.webp (bar in wet hands) as a half-width or stacked image.
- Free shipping line, centered: "Free shipping on orders over $50."
- Full-width button (centered at 600 too): "Finish checking out" to checkout_url.
- Closer: "Questions about a scent? Reply and we'll help." (only once the reply-to is monitored).
- Footer (drop the duplicate wordmark+dash or shrink it).
Rewrite: The first cart email is the highest-converting step in the flow and should stay, but right now it is a bare receipt with no product, no reason and no visual break.
C22/10Give the code with the real number in it, show the product it applies to, and make the math obvious (code plus free shipping over $50).rewrite
Today: Deliver a discount code for the items in the cart.
Copy
- Raw placeholders render in the email: "[CART_CODE]", "[CART_SAVING] on [CART_ELIGIBLE_PURCHASE]. Use the code at checkout.", "[CART_TERMS]". This is the 'random text' Brent sees. The code does not exist in Shopify yet, so the email cannot ship and the capture should use a realistic sample value.
- Headline "Here is your code" announces a code without saying what it's worth.
- Body "The items you picked are still in your cart. The code below is for them." is two filler sentences and restates C1.
- Subject "An offer on your cart" is vague; with the real number it should say the number.
- Preview "The code is in this email, next to the items you picked." just describes the email's layout.
- "Your cart offer" label plus "Here is your code" plus "The code below is for them" says 'code' three times with no value stated once.
- Closer "Not sure about a scent or an ingredient? Reply here." is OK.
Design
- Identical skeleton to C1 plus one grey panel. No image, so a reader can't tell this from C1 at a glance.
- The offer panel is the only visual break, and it is mostly a white box with bracketed text.
- The cart list is again a bare two-line text list with dash glyphs and an empty right side.
- The button is left-aligned at 600, leaving a dead right half.
- No hierarchy telling the reader that the code is the point; the saving amount should be the biggest thing on the page.
Images
- No product imagery. Use remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-3.webp-style shots (bar + labelled box) or remainder-g-unscented-3.webp; for a scent-agnostic version, remainder-water.webp (overhead of the real bars in water) or remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-6.webp (stack of bars) as the hero.
- Item thumbnails per row from remainder-g-<scent>-1.webp via a title conditional, the same as C1.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Subject: "[X]% off the soap in your cart" (real number once Brent sets it). Preview: "Code inside. Orders over $50 ship free."
- Masthead.
- Photo hero: remainder-water.webp (the real bars overhead in water, cropped to 600x400) or remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-6.webp stack. Headline: "[X]% off your cart". One line: "Use the code below at checkout."
- Offer panel moved UP, directly under the hero: large code box, saving line in plain words, terms in small type. Tinted background.
- Items block with thumbnails (remainder-g-<scent>-1.webp), names and qty.
- Three bullet rows 'What you get', each with a tiny icon or none: "4.5 oz bar of grass-fed tallow soap" / "Essential oils only, or none in Unscented" / "Free shipping over $50". Facts must come from the lean voice packet fact sheet.
- Full-width centered button: "Use my code" to checkout_url (if Klaviyo/Shopify supports it, append ?discount=CODE so it applies itself, but say so only once verified).
- Closer: "Not sure about a scent? Reply and we'll help."
- Footer.
Rewrite: The offer step earns its place in the flow, but as built it shows placeholders, never states the value, and is visually the same as C1.

Today: Remove risk by stating a 60-day money-back guarantee and repeating the code.
Copy
- Subject "Every order has a 60-Day Money Back Guarantee" reads like a policy page header; it's long and gets truncated on a phone. Try "Try it for 60 days".
- Preview "Still deciding? Everything is saved for you." repeats C1's 'saved' idea and implies cart reservation.
- Body "Your cart and the code are saved." repeats C1 and C2; "If the soap isn't for you, our 60-Day Money Back Guarantee covers it." says 'the soap', which is wrong if the cart holds deodorant.
- The guarantee is the only new fact and gets one sentence with no explanation of how it works (reply? return the bar?). Readers need the how in two bullets.
- Raw placeholders again: "[CART_CODE]", "[CART_SAVING] on [CART_ELIGIBLE_PURCHASE]. Use the code at checkout.", "[CART_TERMS]". This is the identical panel copied from C2.
- No closer or reply line, so the email ends abruptly at the button.
- The 60-day guarantee needs a source tag (current Remainder policy page) before it ships; it is unverified in the config notes.
Design
- A carbon copy of C2's layout: same hero shape, same list, same grey panel. The reader sees the third version of one email.
- No image, no quote, no visual proof; for a 'should I trust this' email that is the biggest miss.
- The headline "60 days to decide" is the only nod to the purpose, and it is small text in a white field.
- The button is left-aligned at 600 with a dead right half; the phone version ends in a long footer.
Images
- No product imagery. The real quote cards already exist on the PDP: remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-3.webp ("My skin feels so smooth..." Brian O., verified buyer, with bar + box) and remainder-g-unscented-3.webp ("Great soap, and it doesn't dry my skin." Toshia M., verified buyer). Use one as the hero; these are real product with real reviews baked in.
- Secondary image: remainder-hands.webp (Eucalyptus Charcoal bar in wet hands) or remainder-g-unscented-5.webp to break the scroll above the button.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Subject: "Try it for 60 days". Preview: "If it's not for you, we refund it. Your code still works."
- Masthead.
- Photo hero: remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-3.webp (quote + bar + labelled box, 600x600). It carries the social proof visually.
- Headline: "60 days to decide". Body as 3 bullets: "Use it for up to 60 days." / "Not for you? Reply to this email." / "We refund your order." Wording must match the live policy exactly.
- Second quote as text in a tinted panel: "Great soap, and it doesn't dry my skin." Toshia M., verified buyer (source: remainder-g-unscented-3.webp card / Judge.me record).
- Items block with thumbnails (remainder-g-<scent>-1.webp).
- Compact offer reminder line, not the full panel again: "Your code [CODE] still works for [X]% off."
- Image break: remainder-hands.webp cropped landscape.
- Full-width centered button: "Go to checkout".
- Closer: "Questions? Reply here."
- Footer.
Rewrite: A risk-reversal step is a good third email and is distinct from C2's offer, but it must show proof and product rather than re-skin C2. Fix the backwards audience split before it sends.
Browse recovery
The browse flow is one email, B1, with a no-product branch (B1-fallback). As a series, it falls short in two ways. (1) B1 promises "the full ingredient list" in the subject and then makes the reader click to see it. It shows no product, no ingredients and no image, so the only email this flow sends barely registers on a phone. (2) The fallback capture is stale (Sep 16, 15:36). It shows a different headline ("Find the details that matter to you"), a sans wordmark, a square uppercase button and a dark footer, while B1 (Oct 1) has the serif wordmark, a pill button and a light footer. The no-product branch of the current B1.json was never re-captured, so nobody has looked at what that branch actually sends. That render would read "Nothing hidden on the label" followed by "Questions about it?", where "it" has no referent. Fix: keep one email, but make it carry the product. Use per-product conditional blocks keyed on event.ProductName to swap in the real PDP photography: the hosted remainder-g-<scent>-1 box shot and the remainder-g-<scent>-2 "Every ingredient has a purpose" panel, or the remainder-g-deo-<scent>-1/-2 pair for deodorant. That lets the email show the ingredient list the subject promises. A second touch (B2, about 48h later, same exclusions plus "opened B1 and did not click") would earn its place only if it does a different job: proof (a real verified-buyer quote like the one baked into remainder-g-unscented-3, plus the 60-day guarantee and free shipping over $50). It must not repeat the ingredient pitch. No repetition across emails today, but only because there is just one email.
B13/10Show the exact product they looked at, with its real ingredient list in the email, and send them back to that PDP to buy.rewrite
Today: Remind a product viewer that the ingredient list is on the product page, and link back to the product.
Copy
- The subject "The full ingredient list, before you decide" promises the list, but the body never shows a single ingredient. It only says "Every ingredient is listed on the product page". The email points elsewhere for the thing it promised.
- The preview "Every order carries a 60-Day Money Back Guarantee." appears nowhere in the body. The guarantee is mentioned once in the inbox and then dropped, which reads as random.
- Headline "Nothing hidden on the label" next to a body about "the product page": the label and the page are two different things, so the headline and the body don't connect.
- The body says "Remainder makes soap from tallow, a solid beef fat", but whowhen says B1 fires on any product view, deodorant included. Someone who looked at Tallow Deodorant gets a soap sentence.
- "a solid beef fat" is flat and a little off-putting for the homestead/carnivore buyer. The PDP's own words are "Grass-fed beef tallow. The only fat." Use the claim the site already makes.
- "YOU LOOKED AT" followed by a dash and one underlined link ("Tallow Bar Soap") is a data label, not copy. It reads like a receipt and says nothing about the product.
- The closer "Questions about it? Reply to this email and we'll answer." is fine, but it's the only human line. Nothing gives a reason to buy (guarantee, free shipping over $50, what makes this bar different).
- No bullets anywhere, though the whole premise of the email is a list (ingredients).
Design
- No image at all. On the 375 capture the reader scrolls through a headline, three lines of grey body, a label, one link, a button and a footer, which is about 70% white space with nothing to look at.
- Thin text floating in white: the "You looked at" section is a full-width panel holding one 1-line link, with roughly 120px of dead space above and below on both captures.
- No visual break while scrolling: every section is white on white, separated only by hairlines. There's no tint change, panel or photo, so it reads like a transactional receipt and not a Remainder email.
- The 600 capture's button is a big black pill sitting left with an empty right half, which makes the action block feel unfinished.
- The masthead and footer repeat the same REMAINDER wordmark, and the footer is taller than the product section. The brand gets more pixels than the product.
- Footer address reads "Mellymamaco LLC, 30 N Gould St #3705, Sheridan, WY". Verify that this is the intended sending entity for Remainder (the business is run under Bioshift Nutrition LLC); if it is wrong, it's misplaced legal text.
Images
- The email has no product image. The config's note says event.ImageURL was dropped because the live store shows BMS packaging. That reason is valid, but the fix is not "no image". Swap static hosted Remainder photos by product name with Klaviyo conditionals ({% if 'Lemon' in event.ProductName %} ... ).
- Soap viewers: hero = theme/assets/remainder-g-<scent>-1.webp (labelled Remainder carton, e.g. remainder-g-unscented-1.webp). Ingredient panel = remainder-g-<scent>-2.webp (the 'Every ingredient has a purpose' shot with tallow, water and lye, plus the essential oils for scented bars, e.g. remainder-g-lemon-litsea-2.webp).
- Deodorant viewers: remainder-g-deo-<scent>-1.webp (stick plus cap) and remainder-g-deo-<scent>-2.webp (ingredient grid: tallow, magnesium hydroxide, zinc ricinoleate, arrowroot and so on).
- Unknown product / multi-scent default: remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp (all four labelled cartons on water) cropped to 1200x600. Proof strip: remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (bar plus box with the verified-buyer quote 'Great soap, and it doesn't dry my skin.').
- Images must be exported to JPG at 1200px wide (q92) and hosted, because webp is unreliable in Outlook.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Subject: keep "The full ingredient list, before you decide". Preview: "Every ingredient, and what it does." (the guarantee moves into the body where it can be seen).
- Masthead (serif REMAINDER, light).
- Photo hero, full width 600: the real labelled box for the viewed product (remainder-g-<scent>-1 / remainder-g-deo-<scent>-1, conditional on event.ProductName; default remainder-home-hero-desktop crop). Product name as an H1 under it, from {{ event.ProductName }}, linked.
- Short text block: "You were looking at {{ event.ProductName }}. Here's everything in it." One line, no filler.
- Tinted panel (warm cream): the ingredient image remainder-g-<scent>-2 / remainder-g-deo-<scent>-2 at full width, then a live-text bulleted list so the panel survives images-off. Soap: "• Grass-fed beef tallow: the only fat, for a rich, creamy lather • Water: dissolves the lye • Lye: turns the fat into soap, none left in the bar • [scent only] Essential oils: the only fragrance". Deodorant: tallow, magnesium hydroxide, zinc ricinoleate, arrowroot, jojoba (the PDP list, verbatim facts only).
- White panel, 3 short bullets 'Why people switch': "• Made in small batches • No synthetic fragrance • 60-Day Money Back Guarantee" (only verified claims from the lean packet; no em dashes, no 'FDA').
- Proof strip: remainder-g-unscented-3 (the box and bar with the Toshia M. verified-buyer quote), or the quote as live text on a tinted band.
- Action block: button "See {{ event.ProductName }}" to {{ event.URL }} (fallback 'Shop the soap' to collection); under it the line "Free shipping over $50." Then the closer: "Not sure which scent? Reply and we'll help you pick."
- Footer (light, consistent with the rest of the set; confirm the legal entity line).
Rewrite: Browse recovery is a real, high-intent trigger and deserves an email. The current build has the right instinct (ingredients, no fake urgency) but none of the substance. It's a text receipt that points at the PDP and never shows the product or the list it promises.
B1-fallback2/10When the viewed product is unknown, introduce the line in one glance (the real boxes) with the ingredient story, and send the reader to the collection.merge
Today: Fallback when no viewed-product data exists: say the ingredient list is on the product page and send the reader to the collection.
Copy
- The capture is stale (Sep 16) and doesn't match the current B1.json. It shows "Find the details that matter to you", but the live template's no-product branch would render "Nothing hidden on the label". Brent is reviewing copy that won't send.
- "Find the details that matter to you" is a generic SaaS line that says nothing about soap.
- "The full ingredient list is on the product page" in an email with no product: which product page?
- The current template's no-product branch keeps the closer "Questions about it? Reply to this email and we'll answer.", where "it" refers to a product that isn't shown. Broken reference.
- "EXPLORE REMAINDER": 'explore' is on the voice's own soft-ban list (see the WB1 flow-map note) and gives no reason to click.
- It shares the B1 subject and preview, which promise an ingredient list and a guarantee this branch never shows.
Design
- Mismatched design system against B1: sans-serif tracked wordmark, square uppercase button and dark charcoal footer, while B1 has the serif wordmark, pill button and light footer. Two versions of one email look like two brands.
- Even shorter than B1: a headline, two lines, a button and one line, then a heavy black footer block that takes about 25% of the phone screen. Dead and bottom-heavy.
- No image, no panel, no tint change, no bullets: nothing breaks up the scroll because there's barely anything to scroll.
- The 600 capture's button sits left with a wide empty right side, and the body text runs full width as a single line, so it reads unfinished.
Images
- No image. Use theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp (the four labelled Remainder cartons on water), exported to 1200x600 JPG, as the hero.
- Ingredient panel: remainder-g-unscented-2.webp (tallow, water, lye: the base every bar shares), or remainder-g-lemon-litsea-2.webp to show the essential-oil row.
- Scent row: the four product-card images remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp as a 2x2 grid of labelled cartons, each linked to its PDP (Bergamot Tangerine only once it's live).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Same subject and preview as B1 ("The full ingredient list, before you decide" / "Every ingredient, and what it does.").
- Masthead: same serif light masthead as B1 (one design system).
- Photo hero: remainder-home-hero-desktop crop (four labelled cartons). H1 "Three ingredients. Nothing else." (true for the unscented base; scented bars add essential oils, which the bullets say).
- Tinted panel: remainder-g-unscented-2 ingredient image plus live-text bullets: "• Grass-fed beef tallow • Water • Lye • Essential oils in the scented bars, the only fragrance".
- Scent grid 2x2: remainder-unscented / -lemon-litsea / -pine-cedarwood / -eucalyptus-charcoal product-card images, each with its name in live text and its own PDP link.
- Short bullets: "• 60-Day Money Back Guarantee • Free shipping over $50".
- Button "Shop the soap" to the collection URL; closer "Not sure which scent? Reply and we'll help you pick." (no dangling 'it').
- Footer identical to B1. Re-capture B1-fallback-600/375 from the current build_templates.py output.
Merge: It's a branch of B1, not its own email. Build it as the default branch of the rebuilt B1 (same layout, same design system) with the multi-scent hero and grid in place of the single product, then re-capture it from the current template so the review matches what sends.
Winback series
As a series this doesn't work yet. WB1 is a scent-browsing email. WB2 and WB3 are two copies of the same email: a text hero over a grey code panel, where every important word is still a placeholder ([RETURN_CODE], [RETURN_SAVING], [RETURN_ELIGIBLE_PURCHASE], [RETURN_TERMS], and [SHIPPING_TERMS] in WB3). Not one of the three shows a real Remainder box, bar or hand shot. WB1's only photo is a Beast Mode era splash stack, and its 'scent row' is five empty grey rectangles with colored stripes. None of the emails tells a lapsed Beast Mode Soap buyer the one thing they need to hear: Beast Mode Soap is now Remainder, same tallow soap, new box. That should open the flow, because the whole audience bought under the old name. WB3 adds almost nothing beyond WB2 except the line 'A bar lasts about four weeks'. Its offer label 'Your return offer' brings back the word 'return' that WB2's own notes removed because it reads like refunds. On timing, viewer/whowhen.json has no WB entries at all, so the viewer can't show who gets these or when. Recommended structure (three emails, three different jobs): WB1 = 'We're Remainder now. Same soap.' (re-introduce the brand with the real boxed lineup, what changed and what didn't, the five scents as real product cards, one review, shop button). WB2 = the offer (code panel framed by a real hero of the five boxes, a bulleted 'what you get' list with free shipping over $50 and the 60-Day Money Back Guarantee, best-seller cards). WB3 = the stock-up reason plus the same code (four-weeks-per-bar math laid out as a 1 / 3 / 6 bar ladder with a real stack photo, an Unscented ingredient panel for the people who want the plainest bar, a reminder that the code still works). WB2 and WB3 can't be built until Brent supplies a real code, saving and terms. Until then they aren't emails, they're forms with blanks in them.
WB14/10Win back a lapsed Beast Mode Soap buyer by showing the same tallow soap in its new Remainder boxes, all five scents, and getting them to pick one they haven't triedrewrite
Today: Remind a lapsed buyer that other soap scents exist and send them to the soap collection
Copy
- Headline 'The soap scents' is a label, not a thought. It gives a lapsed buyer no reason to keep reading and doesn't acknowledge that they bought before.
- Nowhere does it say Beast Mode Soap is now Remainder. To someone who bought a Beast Mode bar, an email from 'REMAINDER' about 'the soap scents' looks like spam from a brand they don't know.
- Body 'Pick one you haven't tried. Each scented bar uses essential oils alone, with no synthetic fragrance.' has two unrelated points crammed into one line under the hero.
- The bottom panel line 'Unscented has two ingredients on the label: grass-fed beef tallow and water, made into soap.' is random: one scent's ingredient fact, dropped below the scent row with no heading or reason. It also reads wrong ('two ingredients' and then 'made into soap' quietly hides the lye).
- The review is left-aligned plain body text in straight dumb quotes, with no stars and no styling, and the attribution 'Rebecca G.' sits alone on its own line as if it were a paragraph. It doesn't look like a review. The config notes also say the quote is from 'Lemon Leaf', an old Beast Mode scent name, so check it's being used for Lemon Litsea honestly.
- Preheader 'Pine Cedarwood, Eucalyptus Charcoal, Lemon Litsea or Unscented, and a fifth on the way.' is a list of names, not a reason to open. 'a fifth on the way' also clashes with the plate row, which shows Bergamot Tangerine as if it were available now.
- Subject 'Try a different scent' assumes they remember the brand, and the email never tells them which scent they had.
- Button 'Shop the scents' is generic; it could be 'Shop all five scents'.
Design
- The 'scent plates' are five empty pale rectangles with a thin color stripe at the bottom. They look like broken images or unloaded placeholders. This is the biggest visual failure in the flow.
- On phone the plate row wraps 3 + 2 with a lot of dead grey space and a lopsided second row (Bergamot and Unscented floating off-center).
- The bottom text panel is a wall of three left-aligned plain paragraphs with no heading, no bullets and no visual anchor. It reads as leftover text.
- Nothing is bulleted. The essential-oils, tallow and no-synthetic-fragrance facts are buried in sentences.
- The hero is the only real visual. Below it the email goes placeholder plates, then a plain text block, then the footer, so there's nothing pulling the eye down the page.
- The desktop button is a short pill floating left with white space to its right. Fine, but the hero and button block has a big empty band between the photo and the headline.
Images
- Hero email/assets water-cascade-full-1200x800.jpg is a Beast Mode era splash stock shot: unlabelled bars, cold blue-grey tint, nothing that says Remainder. It doesn't fit the light, airy, clean farmhouse direction and doesn't show the box. Replace it with theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp (the five labelled Remainder boxes on wet marble), or with theme/assets/remainder-water.webp (four real bars in the light water) if a bar-only shot is wanted.
- The plate row is drawn placeholders. Replace it with the real product cards in two rows: remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-bergamot-tangerine.webp (labelled 'Coming soon' until it's live). Or use the bar shots: remainder-g-<scent>-2.webp for each.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead (as now).
- Full-bleed hero image: theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp (five labelled boxes). Spectral headline 'Same tallow soap. New name.' Body: 'Beast Mode Soap is now Remainder. Same grass-fed tallow, same small batches made in New York, a cleaner box.'
- Bulleted 'What didn't change' panel on the tinted background, three bullets: 'Grass-fed beef tallow base', 'Scented bars use essential oils only, no synthetic fragrance', 'Unscented is the simplest bar we make'.
- Scent grid on white: 2-column product cards on phone (3 + 2 on desktop) using remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-bergamot-tangerine.webp (with a 'Coming soon' tag). Each card has the name and a one-line scent note (e.g. 'Pine Cedarwood: forest, woody') and links to its PDP.
- Review card on the tinted background: 5 stars, centered serif quote in curly quotes, 'Rebecca G., verified buyer' in small caps underneath. Or use a real hands shot beside it: remainder-g-lemon-litsea-5.webp.
- Full-width CTA 'Shop all five scents' plus a small trust line: 'Free shipping over $50 · 60-Day Money Back Guarantee'.
- Footer.
- Subject: 'Beast Mode Soap is now Remainder'. Preview: 'Same tallow soap, new box. Here are all five scents.'
Rewrite: A scent and brand re-introduction is the right first winback email, but as built it fails the brief: placeholder plates, a Beast Mode stock hero, a stray ingredient fact, and it never says the brand changed.
WB22/10Give the lapsed buyer a real reason to come back now: a specific code on the real Remainder lineup, with free shipping and the guarantee made obviousrewrite
Today: Give a lapsed buyer a discount code
Copy
- Placeholders show to the customer: '[RETURN_CODE]', 'Take [RETURN_SAVING] on [RETURN_ELIGIBLE_PURCHASE]. Use the code at checkout.', '[RETURN_TERMS]'. As captured, the offer, which is the whole point of the email, is blank.
- Body 'Your code is below. Use it on a scent you know or one you haven't tried. Every order comes with our 60-Day Money Back Guarantee.' is three unrelated statements in one paragraph. The guarantee deserves its own bulleted line, not the tail of a sentence.
- No mention that Beast Mode Soap is now Remainder, so 'A code for your next order' from an unfamiliar brand reads like a phishing email.
- Headline 'A code for your next order' and button 'Shop with your code' both say 'code' and never say how much it saves.
- Free shipping over $50 is missing. That's a verified, live fact and the easiest win in a winback.
Design
- No image at all. It's a text block, a grey panel, then the footer, and the whole email is one screen of type.
- The code box is a big empty white rectangle with bracket text. Once filled it's fine, but nothing above or below it shows product.
- Nothing is bulleted; the guarantee and shipping should be scannable.
- The scroll is flat: white, grey, white. No photo or product row breaks it up.
- Desktop: the button floats left in the grey panel with a wide empty right side.
Images
- No product imagery. Add the real lineup: theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp as the hero, or remainder-water.webp. Add product cards remainder-unscented.webp / remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp / remainder-lemon-litsea.webp under the code.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Hero image: theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp (five labelled boxes). Headline: '[SAVING] off your next order'. Body: 'Beast Mode Soap is now Remainder. Here's a code to try the new box.'
- Code panel (tinted): label 'Your code', the real code large in the white box, one line 'Take [SAVING] on [ELIGIBLE]. Enter it at checkout.', the terms in small type, full-width button 'Use my code'.
- Bulleted 'Every order' panel with three icon bullets: 'Free shipping over $50', '60-Day Money Back Guarantee', 'Made in New York, small batch'.
- Three-up product cards (2 + 1 on phone): remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, each linking to its PDP, with a 'See all five scents' text link.
- Footer.
- Build blocked until Brent supplies the actual code, saving, eligible purchase and terms; never ship with brackets.
Rewrite: An offer email is the core of a winback flow, but right now it's a form with blanks and no product. Keep its slot, rebuild it around the real offer and real photos.
WB32/10Give the buyer a stock-up reason (one bar lasts about four weeks, so buy for the season) and remind them the code still worksrewrite
Today: Remind about the same code, plus a bar-lifespan stock-up hint
Copy
- Customer-visible placeholders: '[SHIPPING_TERMS]' sits alone as a body line, plus '[RETURN_CODE]', '[RETURN_SAVING]', '[RETURN_ELIGIBLE_PURCHASE]', '[RETURN_TERMS]'. The shipping fact is known (free shipping over $50), so [SHIPPING_TERMS] should be written out, not left as a blank.
- Panel label 'Your return offer' uses the word 'return', which WB2's notes removed because it reads like refunds; the two emails now contradict each other.
- 'A bar lasts about four weeks, so three or four covers a few months.' is the only idea in the email, and it's left as a sentence instead of shown as a ladder. 'three or four covers a few months' is vague. Also check the four-weeks figure is a verified fact, since the flow-map notes call the replenishment figure unmeasured.
- 'The same code works.' is orphaned: it refers to a code from a previous email the reader may not have opened.
- Headline 'For your next order' is a fragment with no point.
- Subject 'A bar lasts about four weeks' is an interesting fact but the email doesn't pay it off visually; preview 'Your code is still good for your next order.' leans on WB2 again.
- Button 'Shop the soap' is generic.
Design
- A pixel-for-pixel copy of WB2's layout: text hero, grey code panel, footer. No image, no product, nothing that marks it as a different email.
- Three short body lines stacked with large gaps between them, the last being the bracket placeholder. Thin text floating in white.
- The stock-up math is a list hiding in a sentence; it should be a visual tier row.
- Flat scroll, no visual break.
Images
- No imagery. Use a real stack shot to show 'stock up': theme/assets/remainder-g-lemon-litsea-6.webp or remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-6.webp (stacked bars on marble), or remainder-g-unscented-6.webp. For an in-use frame, remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-5.webp (wet hands holding the bar).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Hero image: theme/assets/remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-6.webp (a real stack of bars). Headline: 'One bar, about four weeks'. Body: 'Buy for the season and stop thinking about soap.'
- Stock-up ladder panel (tinted), three columns, each with a small real bar image (remainder-g-unscented-2.webp, etc.): '1 bar: about a month', '3 bars: about a season', '6 bars: about half a year', then the line 'Orders over $50 ship free.'
- Code reminder panel: label 'Your code still works', the real code, one line with saving and terms, full-width button 'Stock up with my code'.
- Bulleted reassurance: '60-Day Money Back Guarantee', 'Essential oils only in the scented bars', 'Free shipping over $50'.
- Footer.
- Subject: 'One bar lasts about a month'. Preview: 'Stock up for the season. Your code still works.' Verify the four-weeks figure before use.
Rewrite: Worth keeping only if it gets its own stock-up angle and visuals. As built it's WB2 again with a bracket placeholder, and it would be better cut than sent like this.
Subscription onboarding
As a series this flow is three receipts. S1, S2 and S3 are the same template with no image: masthead, a serif headline, two gray paragraphs, a black pill button, one reply line, footer. On a phone they look identical, and none of them shows the product or the box the subscriber just signed up for. The idea behind the order is right: confirm on day 0, teach how to use and care for the product once it arrives, then check timing before the second charge. The execution is wrong in three ways. (1) S1 and S3 both send people to the same portal ([SKIO_PORTAL_URL]) with close to the same pitch: S1 says "check your next order and manage future deliveries" and S3 says "compare that with the date and quantity of your next order." That is the same email twice. (2) S2 is the only email with real content, but its care tips cover soap only, so a deodorant-only subscriber gets a header pointing to "each product page" and nothing more. It also repeats N3/H1 almost word for word ("Give it somewhere to drain"). (3) Nothing in the series says why subscribing was worth it, what the bars are, or what's coming, so there is nothing that makes someone keep the subscription. To fix it, give each email one job. S1: what you get and when (photo of the real box, a plan summary, bullets on what you can change). S2: how to get the most out of each product, with photos and two blocks, soap and deodorant. S3: is your timing right, made concrete with the rough number of weeks one bar or stick lasts and three bulleted fixes (move date, change quantity, swap scent). S3 also needs to stop repeating S1. It should open with a usage fact and an image of the bar worn down, then show the scent lineup, since S3 is the natural place to suggest trying a second scent on the next order. Keep all three. Rebuild every one with real PDP photos from theme/assets. Nothing in the current email/assets library should be used here.
S13/10Make the new subscriber feel good about the decision: show exactly what is coming, when, and how easy it is to change, with one button to the portal.rewrite
Today: Confirm the subscription and link to the portal.
Copy
- "Your account shows the products, price and delivery schedule you selected." tells them to go look somewhere else instead of telling them. The email should state the plan (or at least say what a subscription includes).
- "Use the link below to check your next order and manage future deliveries." is wording from a bank confirmation, with no warmth, no brand and no product named.
- "Thank you for subscribing." followed by "You're subscribed" in the headline says the same thing twice in the first 10 words.
- "If you need help getting started, reply here." There is nothing to get started with on a soap subscription. It's a filler closer.
- Nothing names Remainder products, tallow, a scent or the subscriber benefit. The email works for any brand on Skio.
- There is nothing on when the first box ships or arrives, which is the one thing a new subscriber wants to know.
Design
- The whole email is one text card: headline, two gray paragraphs, button, reply line. There's no image, no panel and no change of background tint, so on a phone it scans like a password reset.
- The black pill button in the 375 capture is huge for a single action. It reads as the main content because nothing else has weight.
- The masthead wordmark and the footer wordmark are the only branding. The same wordmark appears twice in an email about 1.5 screens tall.
- There is no plan summary block. The C7 Products / Price / Schedule rows are switched off, so the confirmation doesn't confirm anything visible.
- Nothing is broken out into bullets. What they can do in the portal (skip, change date, swap scent) should be a 3-item bulleted list.
Images
- No image at all. A subscription confirmation for a physical product with no product photo is the biggest gap in the email. Use theme/assets/remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (labelled Remainder Unscented box plus bar on a white counter) as the hero, or remainder-water.webp (four real bars in water, airy) if you want the lineup without one scent standing out. If the Skio event exposes the product, the per-scent product card (remainder-<scent>.webp) should go next to each plan row.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead (wordmark).
- Photo hero: theme/assets/remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (real labelled box plus bar), full width. Headline over or under it: "Welcome to Remainder". One-line sub: "Your first box is on its way. Here is what to expect."
- Plan summary panel on a light tint (C7 rows once the Skio keys are read): Products / Every X weeks / Next order date. Until the keys resolve, use a static 3-row 'What your subscription includes' with bullets on verified terms only (e.g. 'Ships on your schedule', 'Free shipping over $50 per order' only if true for the plan, 'Change or skip any time in your account').
- Bulleted block 'You're in control': • Move your next order date • Change quantity or add a scent • Skip or pause (list only the controls verified in the Skio portal).
- Button: 'Manage your subscription' to [SKIO_PORTAL_URL].
- Short warm closer split into its own small block with a small image (theme/assets/remainder-hands.webp crop): 'Questions about your first box? Reply and a real person will answer.' (only once reply routing is confirmed).
- Footer.
Rewrite: A confirmation email is required for subscriptions and has the highest open rate in the flow. Right now it wastes that open on two lines of portal boilerplate with no product.
S24/10Get the first use right: a short, scannable guide to using and storing each product they subscribed to (soap and deodorant), so the bars last and they come back on the next order.rewrite
Today: Send people to the product pages for directions and give three soap care tips.
Copy
- Subject "Directions for your Remainder products" and preview "Directions for use and storage are on each product page." The preview gives away that the email holds no directions and sends you elsewhere, so there's no reason to open it.
- Headline "Directions for each product" followed by "Directions for use and storage are on each product page." says directions twice in a row and promises directions the email doesn't give.
- "The one that matters most for soap is below." is awkward bridging copy that exists only to excuse the email being soap-only. It reads as random.
- A deodorant-only subscriber gets the hero and a button and nothing else. The care module is conditional on [SOAP_PURCHASER_CONDITION], so for them the email has no content.
- "A bar that sits wet goes soft and wears down faster." is flagged [Unverified] in the notes and still ships in the build. Either verify it or keep it as an instruction only.
- Bullet 3, "Unopened bars keep for years on a shelf", is a storage fact dropped into a drainage section headed "Give it somewhere to drain". It's misplaced.
- "If you have a question once you start using them, reply here." is clunky ("using them").
- The care section duplicates N3 and H1 almost word for word, so a customer in two flows gets the same copy twice.
Design
- Three white cards stacked with hairline dividers and no tint change and no image. It reads as a text document.
- The bullets are em-dash-style hyphen marks. The content belongs in a list, but the dash glyph looks like the em dashes the brand bans. Use a real dot bullet or small icon/number.
- The hero card is a 3-line paragraph that sets up nothing, then a gap, then the real content starts. The order is upside down: the useful part is buried.
- The button 'View product details' points to the collection page, not their product. That's a generic dead-end CTA for someone who already bought.
- There is no deodorant section and no visual split between product types. That should be two clearly separated blocks with a photo each.
Images
- No image. Care instructions are exactly where a real photo does the work. For soap use theme/assets/remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-5.webp (real bar lathered in hands under the shower) for 'how to use', and theme/assets/remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-2.webp (bar resting dry on a bright counter) for 'let it dry'. For deodorant use the real PDP shot theme/assets/remainder-g-deo-unscented-1.webp (or the subscriber's scent: remainder-g-deo-eucalyptus-peppermint-1 / remainder-g-deo-citrus-cedarwood-1). Avoid the email/assets 'four-bars-overhead' and Beast Mode era shots.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Subject: 'How to get the most out of every bar'. Preview: 'Three habits that make tallow soap last, plus deodorant tips.'
- Photo hero: theme/assets/remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-5.webp (real bar lathering in wet hands). Headline: 'Getting started with Remainder'. One line: 'A few small habits make each bar last longer.'
- Soap block (conditional on soap), tinted panel: subhead 'Your bar soap'. Numbered bullets: 1. Wet the bar and your hands, lather, rinse. 2. Set it on a draining dish, out of the shower stream. 3. Tip out any water underneath so it dries between uses. Side or stacked image: theme/assets/remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-2.webp (dry bar on counter).
- Small storage callout strip: 'Stocking up? Unopened bars keep for years. Store them somewhere dry.' with a thumbnail of theme/assets/remainder-g-unscented-1.webp (the labelled box).
- Deodorant block (conditional on deodorant), white panel: subhead 'Your deodorant'. Bullets on verified PDP directions only (e.g. how much to apply, warm it if firm, cap on after use). Image: theme/assets/remainder-g-deo-<scent>-1.webp.
- Button: 'See full directions' to the first purchased product URL (fallback collection).
- Reply line: 'Questions after your first week? Reply here.'
- Footer. Flow logic: suppress the soap block for anyone who got H1/N3 in the last 14 days.
Rewrite: This is the one email in the flow with a real job (help them use the product well so they stay subscribed). It needs to deliver the directions instead of linking to them, cover deodorant, and show the real product.
S32/10Before the second charge, help them set the right frequency with a concrete usage guide, and give the one natural reason to add or swap a scent.rewrite
Today: Tell the subscriber to compare their usage with their next order date and change it in the portal.
Copy
- "Take a look at how quickly you are using what you have, and compare that with the date and quantity of your next order." gives the customer homework with no number to compare against. It's a vague instruction, not help.
- "If it's too soon or too late, change your next order in your subscription." is clunky ('in your subscription') and repeats S1's 'manage future deliveries' almost exactly.
- Headline "Timing for your next order" is flat and could be any brand. Subject "Check your next Remainder order" with preview "Check the date and quantity..." uses 'Check' twice in the inbox line.
- The notes say the bar-life line was removed to keep it product-neutral, so the email lost the one concrete fact that would have made it useful.
- "Reply here if you need a hand." is a filler closer, the third time in three emails.
Design
- Pixel for pixel the same layout as S1: same height, same button, same closer position. A subscriber will think they got the same email twice.
- The whole email is two gray paragraphs and a giant black pill. There's no image, no panel and no bullets, and the white space is more than half the phone screen.
- The options (move the date, change quantity, skip, add a scent) are buried in a sentence when they should be a bulleted or 3-tile choice list.
Images
- No image. Use theme/assets/remainder-water.webp (the four real bars together: Unscented, Eucalyptus Charcoal, Lemon Litsea and a warm bar) for a 'try another scent next time' lineup, and/or the per-scent product cards theme/assets/remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp as a 4-up grid. A half-used bar shot would be ideal for the hero but none exists in the approved set. Don't generate one. Use remainder-hands.webp (bar in wet hands) until a real photo of a used bar is shot.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Subject: 'Is your next delivery timed right?' Preview: 'A quick guide to how long a bar lasts, and how to adjust.'
- Photo hero: theme/assets/remainder-hands.webp. Headline: 'Getting the timing right'. Body: one concrete usage line, using only a verified figure from the fact sheet (e.g. '1 bar lasts one person about X weeks with daily use'). If no figure is verified, ask Brent for it. Don't ship the email without it.
- Usage guide panel on a tint: 3 short bullet rows, e.g. • One person, daily showers: every X weeks • Two people sharing: every X weeks • Hand soap at the sink: one bar per X weeks (verified numbers only).
- 'Running ahead or behind?' bulleted options: • Move your next order date • Change how many bars • Skip one delivery (verified Skio controls only).
- Button: 'Adjust your next order' to [SKIO_PORTAL_URL].
- Scent lineup module: headline 'Try a different scent next time', a 2x2 grid of real product cards (remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp) each linking to its PDP, with Bergamot Tangerine marked 'coming soon' or left out.
- Footer.
Rewrite: A check-in before the second charge prevents cancellations and is worth keeping. As built it's a duplicate of S1 with no fact and no product, so it either gets the usage figure and the scent lineup or it should be merged into S1.
Subscription conversion series
This doesn't work as a series. All three emails ask for the same thing ("See subscription options" or "View the subscription offer", every time to [SUBSCRIPTION_URL]), but none of them ever says what a subscriber gets. There is no price, no saving, no shown interval and no product. U1 is a paragraph about the mechanics of auto-reorder. U2 is a price table that is entirely unfilled placeholder tokens. U3 is an ingredient email (the W1/W2 welcome emails already cover "tallow and water") with a subscription button stuck on the end that the copy never sets up. Two of the three have no image at all, and the one photo (cream-stack-square, from the email/assets library) is an unbranded AI-style stack with no box and no label. The order is also backwards for a repeat buyer. They already know the product, so U1 should open with the offer and the real terms. U2 should handle the objection (skip, swap scent, cancel any time). U3 should be proof from other subscribers, with reviews and the product in hand. The ingredient content in U3 repeats the welcome flow and should be cut from this flow. The whole flow is blocked until the live Skio/Recharge terms for Remainder are read off the app. Without a real number or perk, every email here is an email with no point. If no subscription offer exists for Remainder, this flow should not run. Proposed 3-email structure: - U1: the offer plus how it works. - U2: control and flexibility, plus building your own box across scents and deodorant. - U3: social proof plus a last nudge. Every email should open on real PDP photography, and every list of steps or benefits should be bulleted.
U13/10Tell a repeat buyer exactly what subscribing gets them (price or saving, interval, control) and send them to set it up on the scent they already buy.rewrite
Today: Explain that a subscription exists and auto-reorders, with a button to see options.
Copy
- The subject 'Put your reorder on a schedule' does not match the headline 'Set up your reorder once'. The config has three different framings (klaviyo_name, subject, headline).
- No reason to subscribe is given. 'A subscription sends the same products on the interval you pick' has no price, no saving, no free shipping line, and names no interval. Without a benefit the email has no point.
- 'Pick the products and how often. You'll see the price before you commit, and you can change future orders in your account.' These are three separate facts packed into one paragraph. They should be a bulleted list (choose interval / skip or swap / cancel any time).
- The review quote is pasted in as plain body text: '"Love this soap. This my second order and im on the auto shipment." Dean B.' It has no quote styling, no stars, and its typos ('This my', 'im') read as a mistake in the email, not as a customer voice. It is also a Beast Mode Soap review borrowed for Remainder, with no verified-buyer tag.
- 'the same products' is vague. Name the soap. A soap buyer should see 'your bars'.
- Preview 'Choose the products and the interval, and see the price before you subscribe.' repeats body copy. It should state the benefit.
Design
- Text-only email: a masthead, then three grey paragraphs, then a button, then the footer. On a 375 phone it is one white slab with nothing breaking it up.
- No product image anywhere, so the email could come from any brand.
- The quote has the same weight and color as the body copy, so it looks like a stray sentence (the 'random text' Brent is describing).
- Body copy is grey on white at normal weight. Nothing is scannable and nothing is bold.
- The button sits right under the third paragraph with nothing after it except the footer. The email ends abruptly with no closing visual.
- The masthead wordmark and footer wordmark sit about 900px apart on the phone, with about 60% of the height used by chrome.
Images
- No image. Add real Remainder product photography, for example remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp (four labelled boxes on water) as the hero, or remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (labelled Unscented box plus bar). The flow-map's optional golden-stack/olive-stack squares from email/assets should not be used: they are unlabelled bars that read as AI drafts, and the bar colour implies a scent.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Photo hero: theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp (the labelled Lemon Litsea / Pine Cedarwood / Unscented / Eucalyptus Charcoal boxes on water), full width. On mobile, crop to remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp.
- Headline: 'Your bars, on autopilot' (or similar plain payoff). Sub-line with the real offer from the live app, e.g. '[X]% off every order, free shipping over $50'. Use only verified numbers.
- Tinted panel 'How it works', 3 numbered bullets: 1. Pick your scents and how many bars. 2. Choose every 1, 2 or 3 months (real intervals from the app). 3. Skip, swap scents or cancel any time from your account.
- Button: 'Start my subscription' to [SUBSCRIPTION_URL].
- Proof strip on a cream tint: one styled review in Spectral italic with a star row and a 'Verified buyer' tag. Use a clean, verified Remainder/BMS review, or fix the Dean B. quote presentation (keeping the wording verbatim or choosing another). Beside or under it, a small photo: remainder-g-unscented-5.webp (wet hands holding the bar).
- Scent row: 4-up labelled box tiles, remainder-g-lemon-litsea-1.webp, remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-1.webp, remainder-g-unscented-1.webp, remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-1.webp, each linking to its PDP with subscribe preselected.
- Footer.
Rewrite: The flow needs an opener. This one has no benefit, no image and a misplaced quote, so it must be rebuilt around the real offer and real product.
U21/10Remove the commitment fear: show what a subscriber controls (skip, swap scents, add deodorant, cancel) with the real price beside it.rewrite
Today: Show the first-order and ongoing subscription price in a terms panel.
Copy
- The preview shows the raw placeholders '[INTRO_PRICE_OR_SAVING]', '[ONGOING_PRICE_AND_FREQUENCY]' and '[SUBSCRIPTION_OFFER_TERMS]'. In the 375 capture '[ONGOING_PRICE_AND_FR / EQUENCY]' breaks mid-word. The whole content of the email is unfilled tokens.
- The headline 'What the first order costs' is followed by the body 'Here's what your first order costs and what each order after it costs. The full terms are below.' The body restates the headline and points 'below' instead of saying anything.
- The subject 'What a subscription costs' promises a number the email does not contain.
- The flow-map notes say the offer may not even exist for Remainder ('whether the offer is real for Remainder at all'). An email whose only job is a price table cannot be built until that is answered.
- This repeats U1's 'you'll see the price before you commit'. Both emails are about price visibility.
Design
- No image at all. The email is a short white text block, then a grey panel, then the footer.
- The terms panel is the only visual break, and it is filled with grey ALL-CAPS tokens.
- The key-value rows have big empty left gutters at 375, and the right-aligned values wrap awkwardly.
- About 40% of the phone height is masthead and footer, so the actual content is thin.
- The CTA 'View the subscription offer' is a weak verb phrase.
Images
- None used. Needs real product: remainder-g-unscented-6.webp (stack of Unscented bars on a counter) to show 'a month of bars', or remainder-g-deo-unscented-1.webp alongside a soap box to sell adding deodorant to the box.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Photo hero: remainder-g-unscented-6.webp (bar stack in window light), cropped 600x400.
- Headline: 'You stay in control'. One line: 'A subscription is a reorder you can change any time.'
- Bulleted panel on a sage or cream tint, 4 bullets, each with a bold lead: Skip a delivery / Swap scents between orders / Change how often / Cancel from your account, no call needed. Use only the controls the live app actually exposes.
- Price panel (the C9 terms block) only once real values exist, e.g. 'One-time $X / Subscribe $Y per bar, ships every N weeks, free shipping over $50'. Never ship with tokens; hide the block if a value is empty.
- 'Build your box' 2-up: soap box (remainder-g-unscented-1.webp) and deodorant (remainder-g-deo-unscented-1.webp), caption 'Add deodorant to the same delivery'. Use this only if the app supports mixed boxes and deodorant is live.
- Button: 'Set up my delivery' to [SUBSCRIPTION_URL].
- Footer.
Rewrite: As built it is a placeholder table with nothing to read. Keep the slot, but make it the flexibility/objection email, with the price panel filled in from live data.
U34/10Close with proof: real customers who reorder plus the product in hand, then a final, specific invitation to subscribe.rewrite
Today: Explain that the unscented label is just tallow and water, then show a subscription button.
Copy
- The message and the button don't connect. The body is about ingredients ('Tallow and water. That's the label.'), then 'See subscription options' appears without a single word about subscribing. A reader can't tell why this email is in a subscription flow.
- This repeats the welcome flow. W1/W2 already cover the tallow-and-water and lye story, and the notes admit it was reworded only so it 'is not a repeat of W1/W2'.
- 'Every product page lists the full ingredients, in order.' is a filler line that doesn't belong.
- 'The bar is made from it, so the list stops at two.' is awkward phrasing.
- The ingredient meta 'UNSCENTED SOAP, IN ORDER' sits beside 'INGREDIENTS' in two mismatched label styles on one line.
- The subject 'Two ingredients on the label' is fine on its own but wrong for this flow's goal.
Design
- Best structure of the three (photo, text, list panel, button), but every section is white on white, so the dividers do the only separating and nothing changes tint while scrolling.
- The ingredient list is two em-dash rows with a long empty right side.
- The button floats alone in its own white band between dividers, with no lead-in line.
- The hero photo is set in a rounded card inside padding, not full bleed, so it reads small and generic.
Images
- The hero is cream-stack-square-1200x1200.jpg from email/assets: five unlabelled off-white bars on a white seamless with no box, no wordmark and no texture. It reads as AI or stock, not Remainder. Replace with remainder-g-unscented-4.webp (the real PDP ingredient graphic: Unscented bar plus tallow, water and lye with captions, 'Every ingredient has a purpose.') if ingredients stay. For a proof email, use remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (labelled Unscented box plus bar with the Toshia M. verified-buyer quote) or remainder-g-unscented-5.webp (wet hands holding the bar).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Full-bleed photo hero: remainder-g-unscented-3.webp (labelled box plus bar, with the real verified-buyer quote baked in).
- Headline: 'Why people stay on it' plus one line of setup.
- Review stack on a cream tint: 3 short verified reviews (Remainder or BMS via Loox, verbatim) with star rows and first name plus initial. Separate them with hairlines; no body-text quotes.
- Product-in-use band: remainder-g-unscented-5.webp (hands holding the bar under water) beside 3 bullets on why a subscription fits: One bar lasts about N weeks (verified figure only) / Set the interval to match / Free shipping over $50 on the bundle.
- Optional one-line ingredient callout linking to remainder-g-unscented-4.webp. Don't repeat the full C5 list from the welcome flow.
- Final CTA with a lead-in line, 'Your next box ships when you say', button 'Start my subscription' to [SUBSCRIPTION_URL].
- Footer.
Rewrite: The ingredient angle duplicates the welcome flow and does nothing for subscription conversion. Repurpose the slot as the proof/close email with real PDP photography.
Subscription renewal reminder series
This flow has the opposite problem from the rest of the system. None of the four emails has a single image. Each one is a grey frame, a wordmark, one or two text paragraphs and a footer. Brent's "why are these so bad" fits here because they look like a Skio system notification, not a luxury farmhouse brand. Fonts also fall back in the captures: headings render in Georgia and body text in Arial/Helvetica, not Spectral/Archivo. Sequence: PR (every renewal) is the only email with a real job and should stay. It needs to become a visual receipt of what is coming: product photos of the actual bars, plus easy ways to skip, swap or add. FB (day after the reminder, 2nd renewal) earns a place only if it is reframed. Right now it lands one day after a billing email and opens with "You've had your subscription for a while now". That is a generic survey ask, it overlaps H2 ("We'd like your honest take") in the post-purchase flow, and it gives nothing back. COM and COM-survey are on hold with "no audience set", per whowhen. They are one email in two builds (a reply version and a button version, the same as a Klaviyo conditional), and both are a thin paragraph of scent names in a sentence. A product-question email that sits a day after a billing reminder reads as noise around a charge. Recommendation: keep PR as the flow's anchor and rebuild it with product imagery and a skip/swap/add section. Merge FB into a single post-delivery "how is it going" check-in on the 2nd renewal that includes a useful tip (bar care/drying) so it gives before it asks. Cut COM from this flow and move it to a one-off campaign to subscribers when a scent decision is actually pending; that is also the only time its premise is true. Ship one COM build with the survey button when a survey exists, and delete the other build. Also verify the footer entity "Mellymamaco LLC, 30 N Gould St #3705, Sheridan, WY", which appears on every email and does not match Bioshift Nutrition LLC.
PR4/10Show the subscriber exactly which Remainder bars are about to ship and bill, and make skipping, swapping a scent or adding a deodorant one tap.rewrite
Today: Billing reminder: shows date, total and items, with a button to the Skio portal.
Copy
- Body "The date, total and products are below." narrates the layout instead of saying anything; the data sits directly below it anyway.
- "Still have plenty? You can change your next order before it bills." is the only useful line, buried mid-paragraph with no specific options (skip, delay, swap scent). The note says move-date is unverified; confirm what Skio supports for Remainder and name it.
- Button "Review your subscription" repeats the headline "Review your next order". Two 'review' calls and no concrete verb like Manage / Skip / Swap.
- "[RENEWAL_ITEMS]" sits as a single dash bullet in a serif font, while every other value is sans. On send it will be one comma string, not a real line per product.
- Section label "NEXT ORDER" heads a block that holds only date and total, and the products are split into a separate "PRODUCTS" block. That is one thought cut into two boxes with a divider between them.
- No reason to stay subscribed: nothing about free shipping over $50 (BMS policy; verify Remainder's), the subscriber price, or the option to add deodorant.
Design
- Zero imagery. Six stacked white bands separated by hairlines, so on a phone it is a scrolling list of rules and caps labels with nothing to look at.
- Data values are huge sans placeholders right-aligned against small tracked caps keys. The "BILLS ON" / "TOTAL" rows look like a bank statement.
- The products block is a single row with roughly 120px of padding above and below. Thin text floats in white.
- No tint change anywhere; the masthead off-white is the only colour shift before the footer.
- Typography falls back: Georgia headline, Arial body, not Spectral/Archivo.
- At 600 the button is left-aligned with a large dead right side; at 375 it is full width. Inconsistent but minor.
Images
- No product image at all. A renewal email is the best place to show the actual box/bar the customer is getting.
- Use the scent product cards for the line items: theme/assets/remainder-unscented.webp, remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp (labelled boxes, light, clean).
- Hero: theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp (four labelled boxes on white) or remainder-g-lemon-litsea-6.webp / remainder-g-unscented-6.webp (bar stack on marble) for a 'your restock' feel.
- Cross-sell tile: theme/assets/remainder-g-deo-unscented-2.webp (labelled stick, cap off).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead (Spectral wordmark).
- Image hero, full bleed: theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp (labelled boxes on white). Headline over a clean area or directly below: "Your next box ships soon".
- One-line lede: "Here's what's coming on [RENEWAL_DATE]. Need to change anything? You have until then."
- Order card on a warm tint panel: one row per product, each with a 64px thumbnail of that scent's box (remainder-<scent>.webp), scent name, qty and price, then a total row with "Bills [RENEWAL_DATE]" and "[RENEWAL_TOTAL]". This requires reading the Skio line-item loop keys; until then, drop the panel and use the fallback sentence plus the hero.
- "Make it fit" block with three bullets, each a text link to the portal: "Have plenty left? Skip this one." / "Want a different scent? Swap it." / "Running low? Add a bar or a deodorant." (only the actions Skio verifies for Remainder).
- Primary button: "Manage my order" to [SKIO_PORTAL_URL], centred.
- Small cross-sell tile (white): theme/assets/remainder-g-deo-unscented-2.webp + "Add tallow deodorant to this box" link. Only if adding to a subscription is supported.
- Reassurance strip in a light tint: free shipping threshold (verify Remainder's) + "Reply and a real person answers."
- Footer (verify legal entity).
Rewrite: Transactional, sent every renewal, highest open rate in the flow. It must exist, but right now it reads as a placeholder system email.
FB3/10A post-delivery check-in that gives the subscriber something useful (making the bar last) and asks for one honest reply.merge
Today: Ask subscribers on their 2nd renewal what to keep and what to change, reply-only.
Copy
- Subject "One thing you'd change?" invites complaints a day after a billing reminder. The flow-map sheet subject was "How has Remainder been for you?".
- "You've had your subscription for a while now." is vague filler. They are on renewal two, so say what they have had: two boxes.
- Three questions in a row: "If you could change one thing about it, what would it be? And what should we never change?" plus the headline question. Too many asks, no single point.
- "Just reply." followed by "If your delivery schedule needs adjusting, add that in and our team will help." bolts a service task onto a feedback ask; schedule changes belong in PR.
- "our team" is faceless. No signer, no reason given for why their answer matters, nothing given in return.
- Overlaps H2 "We'd like your honest take" in post-purchase; the two will read as the same email.
Design
- One white text block between masthead and footer. On a phone the footer is visible on the first screen; there is nothing to scroll.
- No image, no tint, no bullets, no visual break.
- Fallback Georgia/Arial fonts.
Images
- No image. A warm, human product photo should open it: theme/assets/remainder-g-unscented-5.webp or remainder-g-lemon-litsea-5.webp (bar in wet hands), or remainder-hands.webp (charcoal bar under water).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Image hero: theme/assets/remainder-g-lemon-litsea-5.webp (hands holding the lathered bar).
- Headline: "Two boxes in. How's it going?"
- Short intro (2 lines): "By now you've used a few bars. Here's how to make each one last, and one question for you."
- Tint panel 'Make your bar last' with bullets and a small image of theme/assets/remainder-g-unscented-6.webp (bar stack): "Keep it off standing water; use a draining dish." / "Let it dry between showers." / "Cut a bar in half and keep one dry." (verify each tip against the voice packet fact sheet before shipping.)
- Question block, white: one ask only: "What's one thing you'd tell a friend about it, good or bad? Just hit reply."
- Sign-off with a name (Brent or a named team member, pending sender-name decision) so a reply feels like it goes to a person.
- Light-tint footnote: "Need to change your schedule? Manage it here." as a text link to the portal, not mixed into the ask.
- Footer.
Merge: A feedback ask on renewal 2 is fine, but it duplicates H2 and gives nothing. Merge with H2 into one useful check-in (tip + one question) gated on delivery confirmed, and keep only one of the two.
COM2/10When a scent decision is actually pending, show the current lineup visually and get a one-tap scent vote.cut
Today: Ask 3rd-renewal subscribers which scent they would add, reply-only. Currently on hold with no audience.
Copy
- Headline "Tell us what you'd reach for" is unclear without context: reach for what?
- Scents are crammed into one run-on sentence: "Right now there's Lemon Litsea, Pine Cedarwood, Eucalyptus Charcoal and Unscented." This is exactly where a visual row or bullets belong.
- "We're working out which scents to make next" is only true if a decision is pending; whowhen says it is on hold with no audience.
- Leaves out Bergamot Tangerine (coming soon) with no explanation. Teasing it would give the email a point.
- The closer "Just reply with the scent you have in mind." sits alone in its own band with a hairline above and below, a single orphan line.
- Preview "Reply with the scent you'd add." is fine but the email gives no prompts (citrus? woodsy? herbal?) to make replying easy.
Design
- Thinnest email in the flow: one paragraph plus one orphan line. Grey frame and footer dominate the phone screen.
- The closer band is about 200px tall for one line of text.
- No image, no tint, no bullets.
- Fallback fonts.
Images
- No image. Show the lineup: theme/assets/remainder-water.webp (four bars in water) or the four product cards remainder-unscented/lemon-litsea/pine-cedarwood/eucalyptus-charcoal.webp in a 2x2 grid.
- Coming soon tile: theme/assets/remainder-bergamot-tangerine.webp.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Image hero: theme/assets/remainder-water.webp (the bars in water, real product, light).
- Headline: "Help pick our next scent".
- Lede: "Four bars on the shelf, one on the way. Which one should come after that?"
- 2x2 product grid on a tint panel with a caption under each: Unscented / Lemon Litsea / Pine Cedarwood / Eucalyptus Charcoal using remainder-<scent>.webp.
- Coming next tile: remainder-bergamot-tangerine.webp + "Bergamot Tangerine is coming soon." (only if the launch is confirmed).
- Vote block: bullets with directions as reply prompts or click-to-vote links (survey): "Something warmer (spice, vanilla)" / "Something greener (herbal, mint)" / "Something sharper (citrus)" / "Something else: just reply".
- Button "Vote for a scent" to [SURVEY_URL], with a reply line below as the fallback.
- Footer.
Cut: Doesn't belong in a pre-renewal flow; it is already held with no audience. Rebuild it as a one-off campaign to subscribers, using the visual layout above, when a real scent decision is pending.
COM-survey3/10Same as COM; ship only this button version once a survey exists, as a campaign.merge
Today: Same as COM but with a 'Take the scent survey' button to a survey that does not exist yet.
Copy
- Same run-on scent sentence as COM: "Right now there's Lemon Litsea, Pine Cedarwood, Eucalyptus Charcoal and Unscented. What would you add?"
- "If you'd rather, reply to this email with your answer." is a weak, hedging closer.
- Headline "Tell us what you'd reach for" is unclear.
- Body differs from COM only by dropping "and we'd like your pick"; maintaining two near-identical builds invites drift.
Design
- One paragraph and a black pill button, with no image or panel. Feels like a system prompt.
- At 600 the button is left-aligned with a dead right half.
- Fallback fonts.
Images
- No image. Use theme/assets/remainder-water.webp hero + remainder-<scent>.webp grid, same as COM's rebuild.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Use COM's rebuild outline exactly. This becomes the single build: hero remainder-water.webp, headline "Help pick our next scent", 2x2 scent grid with remainder-<scent>.webp, Bergamot Tangerine coming-soon tile, bulleted scent directions, centred button "Vote for a scent" to [SURVEY_URL], reply line as fallback, footer.
Merge: It is a duplicate of COM. Keep one build (this one, once a survey exists) and delete the reply-only twin.
Renewal milestone
This flow is a single email, M2, and it doesn't earn its place yet. It sends one day after Skio's cycle 2 renewal. The renewal receipt already confirms the same thing, so M2 just repeats it. It also reads almost word for word like S1 and R1. All three are thank-you emails with no image and a button to the account. S1 is "You're subscribed / Open your subscription", R1 is "Good to see you again / View your order" and M2 is "Thanks for staying with us / View your subscription". The only reason a separate milestone email should exist is to give something the receipt can't. That means a real thank-you for sticking with it, a look at the product, how to get more out of the bars, and the subscriber's controls (skip, swap scent, add deodorant). If it can't do that, merge it into the renewal receipt (the sheet already raises this) and cut the flow. Two things have to be settled before it ships either way. Nobody has confirmed whether Skio's cycle 2 means the 2nd or 3rd order. And R1 has to exclude subscribers so they don't get R1 and M2 in the same week.
M22.5/10Mark the subscriber's second delivery with a warm, product-led thank-you that shows them what they get and the easy controls they have (swap scent, add deodorant, skip or change timing), so they stay subscribed.rewrite
Today: Says the subscription renewed and points to the Skio portal. That is a weaker copy of the renewal receipt and of S1.
Copy
- Subject "Your subscription has renewed" is a receipt line, not a milestone. It gives no reason to open and copies the transactional notice the customer already got.
- Preview "Your order is placed. Check it and your next date in your account." repeats the subject and sends them to an account page with nothing to look forward to.
- Headline "Thanks for staying with us" plus a body that says only "Your Remainder subscription has renewed" means the email thanks them and then says nothing. The thank-you points to nothing.
- "You can check this order and the schedule for your next deliveries in your account." is portal instructions, not a reason to read. Nothing about the soap, the scent, or why tallow is worth a second order.
- Closer "If anything needs attention, reply here." is cold and sounds like a support desk. It hints at a problem in what should be a goodwill email.
- Nothing tells them what they can do: no mention of swapping scents (Lemon Litsea, Pine Cedarwood, Eucalyptus Charcoal, Unscented), adding tallow deodorant, or skipping or moving a delivery. Those controls are the whole point of a renewal touch.
- "Mellymamaco LLC" in the footer address is a legal entity name that means nothing to a Remainder customer. Check this is the correct sender entity for Remainder.
Design
- No image at all. It's a bare text card: masthead, two lines, a button, footer. On a phone it ends after one scroll with nothing to look at.
- There's nothing to break up the scroll. No product panel, no tinted section, no bullets, no divider. It's one white block.
- The button is the only visual weight, and it's a huge black pill (wraps wide on 375) that dominates a page that's otherwise empty. Way out of proportion to the content above it.
- Big white gaps above the headline and under the closer make the email look unfinished and thin, not calm and premium.
- It's built from the same text-hero-service skeleton as S1, R1 and GIFT2, so Brent will see four nearly identical white cards in the flow review and can't tell them apart.
- No sign-off or human voice. Masthead and footer wordmark both say REMAINDER, but no person or brand line closes it out.
Images
- There are no images. The fix isn't swapping an image. It's adding real product photography, which is the main visual gap.
- Hero should be theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp (the four labelled soap boxes, Lemon Litsea, Pine Cedarwood, Unscented and Eucalyptus Charcoal, on water). Use remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp for the 375 crop. It's the real product, labelled, approved for the site, and light and airy.
- For the 'what's in your box' or texture moment use theme/assets/remainder-hands.webp (wet hands holding a real Eucalyptus Charcoal bar) or remainder-water.webp (four bars under rippling water).
- For the deodorant add-on tile use theme/assets/remainder-g-deo-unscented-1.webp (the real labelled Unscented tallow deodorant stick). Use remainder-g-deo-eucalyptus-peppermint-1.webp or remainder-g-deo-citrus-cedarwood-1.webp as alternatives.
- For the scent-swap row use the real product-card images theme/assets/remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp and remainder-unscented.webp. Don't use email/assets Beast Mode era or AI images anywhere in this email.
- Don't use remainder-g-unscented-3.webp here. It has a baked-in review quote ("Great soap, and it doesn't dry my skin." Toshia M.) that will clash with live text and copy proof that only belongs on the PDP.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Subject: "Your second Remainder box is on its way" (only if a shipment event is verified; otherwise "A thank-you from Remainder"). Preview: "Plus a few easy ways to make your next box yours." Settle what cycle 2 means first.
- Masthead: REMAINDER wordmark, unchanged.
- Full-bleed hero image: theme/assets/remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp (remainder-home-hero-mobile.webp at 375). Real labelled boxes on water, so it reads as Remainder within one second.
- Hero text block (white): headline "Thanks for coming back to tallow" plus 2 short lines: you're one more delivery into soap made from grass-fed beef tallow and real essential oils, and we're glad it earned a second box. Keep it plain and warm, with no ordinal unless verified and no skin-benefit claims.
- Tinted panel (cream/oat), 'Get the most from every bar', 3 bullets with remainder-hands.webp on the side (stacks on phone): "Keep it on a draining dish so it stays firm between showers"; "Lather in your hands or on a cloth, a little goes a long way"; "Cut a bar in half if you like a fresh edge." Only use lines the voice packet or fact sheet supports.
- White section 'Your subscription, your call', 3 bullets: swap scents any time; add a tallow deodorant to your next box; skip or move a delivery if you're stocked up. Primary button below: "Manage your subscription" to [SKIO_PORTAL_URL]. Use a normal-width button, not the oversized pill.
- Scent row: 4 small product-card tiles with real images (remainder-lemon-litsea.webp, remainder-pine-cedarwood.webp, remainder-eucalyptus-charcoal.webp, remainder-unscented.webp), each with a scent name and a one-line note ('bright and clean', 'woodsy', 'deep clean', 'nothing added'). Note Bergamot Tangerine as coming soon only if Brent wants it here.
- Cross-sell panel (light tint): remainder-g-deo-unscented-1.webp left, right side reads "Try the tallow deodorant" with the three scents (Unscented, Eucalyptus Peppermint, Citrus Cedarwood) and a secondary text link "Add it to your next box". No discount unless a real one exists.
- Warm sign-off line: "Questions about your box or a scent? Just reply, a real person reads these." Only if reply routing is confirmed; otherwise "Reply any time."
- Footer: wordmark, Unsubscribe and Preferences, and the address. Confirm Mellymamaco LLC is the correct sender entity for Remainder.
- Alternative if the receipt can't be told apart in time: cut M2 and fold the hero image, the subscription-controls bullets and the deodorant tile into the Skio renewal receipt.
Rewrite: Keep it only as a real second-delivery retention email. As built, it adds nothing beyond the renewal receipt and S1, so if the rebuild above isn't done, merge it into the receipt instead.
Proposed additions (not built)
As a series it does not hold together. Five of the six emails have no image and run to two or three lines, so on a phone each one is a wordmark, a sentence and a footer, with the footer taking up about a third of the screen. Two pairs repeat each other. H1 and H3 are the same message ("keep it dry, let it drain"), and H3 is blocked anyway because no holder exists in the catalog. GIFT1 and GIFT2 are the same email with the gift named in one and left unnamed in the other. G1 is a two-line thank-you that arrives 20 days late and asks for nothing. H2 is the only email with a real job (early feedback), but it is a bare text block. Not one email shows real Remainder product. The only photo in the flow (H1) shows four long, thin, unlabelled bars from the Beast Mode era that look nothing like the chunky labelled Remainder bars on the PDP, and there is no green Pine Cedarwood bar in it. Recommended shape, in delivery order: (1) H1 at day 7, rebuilt as the full "get the most from your bar" email with H3 folded in and a quiet reorder or subscribe link. (2) H2 at day 14, the honest check-in, with a product photo and a short guide to what to tell us. (3) G1, rebuilt as a gift-buyer email whose point is "give again or get your own", with box shots. (4) One gift template (GIFT1) that names the gift and shows its labelled box. Cut H3 (merge into H1) and cut GIFT2 (it is GIFT1 with the name taken out). Nothing in this flow can send until its trigger exists: a gift flag, a gift-allocation event, delivery data. So rebuild the four survivors now and leave them as drafts. Every image should come from /Users/colosseum/remainder/theme/assets (remainder-g-<scent>-1 to 6, remainder-water.webp, remainder-wet-edge.webp, remainder-hands.webp, remainder-<scent>.webp), not from email/assets.
H15/10Help a new soap buyer make the bar last, and quietly set up the next bar before this one runs out.rewrite
Today: Soap care tips: dry the bar between washes, tip out water, keep spare bars on a dry shelf, a bar lasts about four weeks.
Copy
- The preview promises "Three small habits that keep the bar dry between uses", but the email has two habits and one fact. The list does not match the promise.
- "One bar lasts about four weeks." is a fact sitting between two instructions under "Good to know". It is misplaced. It is the most useful line in the email (the reorder clock) and it is buried as bullet two.
- "A draining dish lets it." is a stiff fragment that ends the body on a weak pronoun.
- "Make your bar last" (headline) and "The bar lasts longest" (body) repeat the same word in back-to-back lines.
- The subject "Caring for your bar between uses" reads like a manual page and gives no reason to open.
- The closer "If anything about caring for the bar is unclear, reply to this email." is filler. Nobody finds a soap dish unclear.
- There is no point after the advice: no reorder, no spare-bar or subscription mention, even though the email itself states the bar lasts four weeks.
Design
- This is the best-built email in the flow (photo, panel, list) but it is still mostly white. The care list floats with big gaps between rows and the closer gets a whole bordered section for one sentence.
- There is no tint change or color block anywhere. Every section is white with a hairline rule, so scrolling on a phone reads as one long white page.
- The dash bullets are faint. The list should use real bullets or numbered steps.
- The footer (second wordmark, unsubscribe, Mellymamaco LLC Sheridan WY address) is about 20% of the phone height.
- No button. An email that tells you the bar lasts four weeks should give you a way to get the next one.
Images
- four-bars-overhead-full-1200x800.jpg is a Beast Mode era photo. The bars are long and thin, not Remainder's chunky rectangles, there are no labels or boxes, and the colors (bright yellow, cream, white, grey) do not match the Remainder lineup (no green Pine Cedarwood). Replace the hero with remainder-water.webp (real Remainder bars in light water, airy and on brand) or remainder-g-unscented-5.webp (the real bar held in wet hands).
- Add a second image: remainder-g-lemon-litsea-6.webp or remainder-g-unscented-6.webp (a stack of real bars on a bright counter) to illustrate "keep spares on a dry shelf".
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Photo hero: remainder-water.webp (real bars in water). Headline "Get every wash out of your bar". One sentence: "A Remainder bar lasts about four weeks of daily use. Three small habits help it go the distance."
- Tinted panel (warm off-white), numbered list: 1. Let it dry between washes. A draining dish or ledge out of the shower stream works. 2. Tip out any water that pools under the bar. 3. Keep spare bars boxed on a dry shelf until you need them.
- Image band: remainder-g-unscented-6.webp (stack of real bars), linked to the soap collection.
- Short white block: "At about four weeks, you'll want the next bar on hand." Button "Get your next bar" to the soap collection or subscription. Small line: "Free shipping over $50."
- Footer, compacted: one wordmark and the unsubscribe line.
- Merge H3's drain message into habit 1 so H3 can be cut. No cause claims about water wearing the bar down.
Rewrite: It is the only email in the flow with a real use and a photo, but the photo is not Remainder product, the list mixes a fact in with instructions, and it stops without a point. It should absorb H3 and end with a reorder.
H23/10Get an honest reply at day 14 by showing it is a real person asking and making it easy to answer.rewrite
Today: Two-week check-in asking for a reply, good or bad.
Copy
- "Your honest take" is a headline fragment with no verb and no ask.
- "If anything about the order needs sorting out, mention it too." is a second, weaker ask tacked on that dilutes the first.
- Nothing tells the reader what kind of answer helps (scent, lather, skin, deodorant feel), so the most likely reply is nothing.
- It never says who is asking. A team-voice letter with no name reads like an automated survey.
Design
- Wall of nothing: about 40 words of grey text in a white box, then the footer. On desktop it is a thin strip of text floating in white.
- No image, no panel, no color, no visual break. It looks like an unfinished template.
- No visible way to act. A reply-only ask needs either a prompt list or a one-tap reply link.
Images
- No image at all. Add remainder-g-unscented-5.webp or remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-5.webp (real bar in wet hands) as the hero. For a deodorant buyer, use remainder-g-deo-unscented-4.webp (deodorant in use, farm field, fits the Yellowstone-but-clean direction).
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Photo hero: remainder-g-unscented-5.webp (soap buyer) or remainder-g-deo-unscented-4.webp (deodorant buyer). Headline "Two weeks in. How's it going?" One line: "We read the replies and use them to make the next batch better." Only if Brent confirms someone reads them; otherwise "Hit reply, even one line helps."
- Tinted panel, "Easy things to tell us" as bullets: how the scent sits with you; how your skin feels after a week or two; anything that surprised you, good or bad; anything about the order that went wrong.
- Button "Reply to this email" as a mailto to the monitored address, or Brent's call on the reply-to.
- Sign-off with a real name (Brent or Melanie), not "the team".
- Footer, compacted.
Rewrite: Early feedback is a real job and nothing else in the flows does it at day 14, but the current build is two sentences and reads like an empty template.
H32/10None on its own. Its one useful idea (let the bar drain) belongs inside H1.cut
Today: Sells a draining soap holder.
Copy
- It sells a product that does not exist: "Shop the soap holder" goes to [HOLDER_URL], and no holder is in the catalog.
- "The holder lets water run off instead of collecting under the bar." says "The holder" as if the reader already knows which one.
- The preview "Your bar dries between showers." states an outcome of a product they do not own.
- "Keep it dry between showers" repeats H1 almost word for word.
Design
- A headline, one sentence and a giant black button. A product email with no product image.
- The button is the largest thing on the screen and points to nothing.
- No break, no panel, all white.
Images
- No image, and none can exist until a holder is sourced and photographed. Do not fake one with an AI render.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Cut. Move "let it drain, tip out pooled water" into H1's numbered list.
- If a real holder is ever added to the catalog: photo hero of the real holder holding a real Remainder bar (shot in the same marble and daylight set as remainder-g-*-2.webp), a three-bullet why, a price, a button to the real PDP, and a free-shipping-over-$50 line. Send it only to soap buyers who have not bought the holder.
Cut: It is blocked on a product that does not exist and it duplicates H1. Keeping it adds a placeholder email to the review set.
G12/10Turn a gift buyer into a buyer for themselves or a repeat gifter: thanks, show the range, give them a reason to come back.rewrite
Today: Thanks a gift buyer, with an offer of order help.
Copy
- "A note on your gift order" sounds like a problem notice. It reads as if something went wrong.
- "Thanks for sending Remainder as a gift." is the whole body, followed by an order-help line. Twenty days after delivery, order help is irrelevant.
- The preview "We hope they enjoy it." never appears in the body, so the thought is split across inbox and email.
- There is no point or action: no "get one for yourself", no "give it again", no scents shown.
Design
- Text-only, two short lines, then the footer. On a phone the footer is as tall as the content.
- No image, panel, list or button. Nothing to scroll and nothing to tap.
- It looks identical to H2, so the flows blur together.
Images
- No image. A gift email should show the box. Use remainder-g-lemon-litsea-3.webp or remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-3.webp (labelled box with the bar beside it), or a row of the box shots remainder-g-unscented-1.webp, remainder-g-lemon-litsea-1.webp, remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-1.webp and remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-1.webp.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Photo hero: remainder-g-pine-cedarwood-3.webp (labelled box plus bar). Headline "Thanks for sharing Remainder". One line: "We hope it's become part of someone's routine by now."
- Tinted panel "Made the same way, in four scents": a 2x2 grid of the box shots remainder-g-unscented-1, -lemon-litsea-1, -pine-cedarwood-1 and -eucalyptus-charcoal-1, each with its scent name and a one-line scent note, each linked to its PDP.
- A three-bullet "Why people give it" list: grass-fed beef tallow and a short ingredient list; real essential oils, no synthetic fragrance (Unscented has none); a simple labelled box that needs no wrapping. Check each line against the fact sheet before use.
- Button "Get a bar for yourself" to the soap collection. Secondary text link "Send another". Line: "Free shipping over $50."
- Footer, compacted.
Rewrite: Gift buyers are a real segment worth a second sale, but this email currently says thank you and nothing else. It earns its place only with a product and a reason to come back. It still needs a gift flag to exist before it can send.
GIFT13/10Make a subscriber feel rewarded for staying, show exactly what the gift is, and point them to the order.rewrite
Today: Tells a subscriber a named free gift is in their next order.
Copy
- The placeholder is visible in the capture: "[GIFT_NAME] is in your next order" and "[GIFT_NAME]" in the list row. A reviewer sees template code, not an email. Captures should render a sample value (for example Pine Cedarwood soap bar).
- "You can see the rest of the order with the button below." is filler narrating the button.
- The "NEXT ORDER" label row has empty meta, so it is a label with nothing next to it.
- "It's free, a thank-you for staying subscribed." is a comma splice and reads flat for what should be the best email a subscriber gets.
Design
- The data section is one row (the gift, "Included") inside its own bordered box. It is a lot of chrome for one line.
- No image of the gift. A surprise email with nothing to look at.
- Three stacked white sections, a giant button, then the footer. No tint change, no visual reward.
Images
- No image. Show the actual gift: if it is a soap, use its labelled box shot (remainder-g-<scent>-1.webp) or box-plus-bar (remainder-g-<scent>-3.webp); if it is deodorant, remainder-g-deo-<scent>-1.webp or -2.webp. Swap per gift with a Klaviyo conditional.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Masthead.
- Photo hero of the actual gift, for example remainder-g-eucalyptus-charcoal-3.webp, chosen by gift via a conditional. Headline "A free [Gift name] is in your next box". One line: "Our thanks for sticking with us. No extra charge, nothing to do."
- Tinted panel "Your next order": a real item list of the subscription items plus the gift row marked "Free", with ship date if the subscription app exposes it; otherwise drop the row entirely.
- Short "About [Gift name]" with 2 to 3 bullets of verified facts (scent notes, what it is made with).
- Button "See your next order" to the subscription portal.
- Footer, compacted. Render captures with a sample gift name, never the raw placeholder.
Rewrite: A real gift reward is worth an email, but only one template, and it has to show the gift. Rebuild it once a gift program actually exists.
GIFT22/10None separate from GIFT1. A later gift should reuse GIFT1 with the gift named.merge
Today: Tells a subscriber an unnamed gift is in their next order.
Copy
- "There's a gift in your next subscription order" never says what the gift is. A mystery with no reveal and no image is not a complete thought.
- "Thanks for sticking with us. We hope you like it." is generic. "it" is something the reader cannot picture.
- The subject "Something extra in your next order" is near-identical to GIFT1's "A gift in your next order".
- The preview "No extra charge, and there is nothing you need to do." reads like a billing notice.
Design
- A headline, two short lines and a huge button. It is mostly white and footer on a phone.
- The same layout as GIFT1, minus the data box. A reader who got both would see the same email twice.
Images
- No image. If a surprise is kept deliberately unnamed, use a closed-box image such as remainder-home-hero-desktop.webp (the four labelled boxes) cropped for email. Better: name it and reuse GIFT1's per-gift box shot.
Rebuilt, it should be
- Cut and merge into GIFT1: a single template driven by the gift-allocation event, with the gift name and image swapped per event. A second gift is just a second firing with a different gift.
- If Brent wants a distinct milestone note, make it about the subscriber ("Six months of Remainder"), with remainder-wet-edge.webp as the hero, the gift named, and a short bullet list of what is new. Still one template.
Merge: It duplicates GIFT1 with less information. Two near-identical gift emails make the flow look padded.
